#r4today Telegraph literally ran a disinformation campaign in regards to schools and covid, they have a massive self interest in shaping the narrative
#HARTleaks
Oakshott shows her agenda in an interview with @bbcnickrobinson says she was acting in the national interest, "lockdowns were forced on us with flimsy evidence"

She says no journalist could sit on a cache of information and not inform the public
So will @IsabelOakeshott be reporting on the #HARTleaks?
Over 6 gigabytes of internal chats showing how media and MPs worked with groups of anti valuers and conspiracy theorists to undermine public health with disinformation?
…terdisinformationproject.substack.com/p/internal-cha…
Somehow i doubt it as it directly implicates the Telegraph and many of the alternative experts she likes to quote
…terdisinformationproject.substack.com/p/the-emails-t…
#HARTleaks have been public knowledge since mid 2021, but having worked for GB News and now for TalkTV I imagine the #HARTleaks provide inconvenient truths for her

Oakshott says schools were closed repeatedly on flimsy evidence, quoted the 100k children missing from education stat

This has been repeatedly debunked, stat comes from IDS' CSJ think tank, they aren't missing its actually the stat of students with severe absence
Severe absence is missing 10% of school in a term, DfEs own stats provided to JCVI shows that the vast majority of severe absence has been due to sickness from covid

Evidence is all here⬇️
Oakshott claims flimsy evidence for the January schools decision, one of the alternative experts GBnews, TalkTV and Telegraph love the most is Carl Heneghan
Heneghans own account of his Sept 2020 meeting with gov shows that even he thought schools shouldn't return at start of Jan
She also seems to get just how deadly the Alpha wave was, yesterday she was upset Hancock wasn't following the scientific advice on care homes but ignores the fact the scientific advice on schools was to take a more cautious approach
While she will argue that children are low risk, she will completely ignore the safety of education workers, schools only went back for one day on 4th of Jan because a large number of workers rightfully enacted Section 44 of the Health & Safety act
The government didn't fight this because they knew they would lose the legal battle and the public were likely to be made more aware of the govs negligent attitude towards the safety of the workforce
If Oakshott wants to find out important information to inform the public there's one vital bit of data on schools that is unavailable..

How many education workers have died?
I contacted ONS and they don't have the data
The DfEs schools workforce is supposed to have this data, however since the start of the pandemic the data on deaths is missing
Only 18 deaths are registered but the last ONS occupational deaths
in 2021 it was around 570

Cover up?
Telegraph article on schools shows good examples of selective quoting to build a narrative

"No robust rationale" for rule of 6 for under 12s, but this wasn't the expert opinion, it was the views of ministers
So when the Telegraph criticised ministers for ignoring expert advice on care homes, but when it comes to schools they are on the side of ministers ignoring expert advice

See how this works?
Claim masks were introduced despite CMO saying "no strong reasons" likely an example of selective quoting of the CMO considering SAGE were recommending masks in June 2020 and in 2021 after masks were removed

They were removed against scientific advice
Then we are back to tired old claims about false positives which is two years out of date as an argument worth engaging with
Throughout 2020 and even into 2021 the Spectator continued to push the narrative a significant number of cases were false positives, this was long after it was clear false negatives were much more of an issue, so why is the Telegraph talking about false positives again?
It's because they are trying to set out the minimisers/GBD narrative that transmission wasn't an issue in schools

"iT wASnT cAsEs iT wAS fALse PoSItIVes"

Once measures like testing and isolation were removed, sickness rates increased

@bbcnickrobinson perhaps #r4today would like to report on the leaked private chat messages which shows how a number of @Telegraph journalists working with antivaxxers and conspiracy theorists to undermine public health?
⬇️
…terdisinformationproject.substack.com/p/internal-cha…
Perhaps @FraserNelson isn't a reliable source for #r4today to interview considering the Spectator's track record on covid reporting, they promoted GBD and platformed ppl like David Patton from disinformation group HART
Perhaps it's useful to mention that Oakshotts partner is Richard Tice whose Reform Party is seeking to pick up the anti-lockdown and antivax vote?

SL:Does anyone have any evidence at all?
LCK: We do
SL: No not you, you don't count...

You'd think the UK clinical lead on covid in children would want to work with the registered charity for @LongCovidKids
You'd think they might want to work with the kids who are actually sick rather than dismissing their experience by quoting their own study which has confounding issues

You'd think by now they would be focused on trying to identify biomarkers

Many schools don't allow students to go to the toilet during lessons, only during break and lunch, but sometimes students have gotta go so staff are told to use their judgement, but some kids use this to bunk off and mess around, so now schools lock toilets
itv.com/news/central/2…
Going to the toilet can seem such a simple thing, but in the context of a school it can be a minefield, some schools are constantly spending money to repair intentional damage to toilets
So in theory the best way to do this is to trust students and then sanction those caught messing around/vandalising/vaping etc

But schools don't have the staff to monitor toilets in lesson time, so how do they catch those messing around?

@RCPCHtweets and various ppl at UKHSA claimed measures were causing disruption in schools not covid
Many measures were dropped just as Delta arrived, more dropped before Omicron
Was argued vaccination would cause more disruption than covid

The end result⬇️
Dropping measures didn't reduce disruption, it increased it. After changes sickness went up, was having classes with third to half of students off sick, several times we ran out of staff and sent whole year groups home as there simply weren't enough adults left standing
"The best place for kids is in school, so stop testing now" is what @RCPCHtweets said

@ChildrensComm set a 100% attendance target and encouraged parents to send ill kids to school

Occuring at the end of a week where a review claimed Prevent was too focused on RW extremism and "mainstream" views were being caught up in the programme, many commentators seem to have forgotten there was also the incident of the guy throwing bombs at an asylum centre
Perhaps we should be asking how far right narratives are being mainstreamed by the RW press?
Shawcross certainly seems like a questionable choice to provide a fair review
On covid the press, in particular the Telegraph and Express have been happy to promote members of disinformation groups who liken vaccines to the holocaust and have called for ppl involved in the vaccine to be locked up
