After a decade at the BBC, Robbie Gibb joined the Tories in opposition, working for Francis Maude until 2001, when they backed the unsuccessful Portillo leadership effort.

In 2002 he rejoined the BBC, working on Newsnight, Daily Politics with Andrew Neil, Andfrew Marr.

In 2017 he became Theresa May's head of communications, before joining "global strategic communications consultancy Kekst CNC" when she stood down.

2020 saw him leading a buy-out of the Jewish Chonicle and back with Neil at #GBeebies as editorial adviser until October.

Gibb, 8 August 2020: The BBC has been culturally captured by the woke-dominated group think of some of its own staff. There is a default left-leaning attitude from a metropolitan workforce mostly drawn from a similar social and economic background...

3/8
... Almost as soon as Britain's verdict [in the EU referendum] was delivered, the rigorous rules were relaxed and anti-Brexit bias and metropolitan 'group think' crept back into the corporation's coverage.

Gibb, 29 October 2020: I have faith that [Nick] Davie will make [running the BBC] work...

5/8
... His decisive early intervention over the farcical banning of singing Prom favourites and his clear understanding of why impartiality must be the number one priority for the BBC have won him praise from ministers and BBC staff alike.

6/8
Amol Rajan, 29 April 2021: Gibb's first duty as a board member is to support the institution to achieve its public purposes...

7/8
... That includes advocating reforms that address the concerns felt by some of his former colleagues in politics; but also being prepared to tell those people when they're wrong about the BBC.

7 May 2021: Gibb joins BBC board

Shapps told @bbcr4today on Friday that "We have doubled the number of places available for HGV drivers to get tested; in other words twice as many tests as before the coronavirus". What did he mean?

@BBCr4today He plans to change the testing regime so that drivers can qualify to drive a rigid lorry and an articulated lorry in a single test rather than two. Does he assume that enables testing centres to offer twice as many tests?

@BBCr4today A training company boss points out that moving straight from a Fiat 500 to an articulated lorry will require a longer course, and is almost certain to produce more failures. It will not double the passes.

@BBCr4today Or is it that some parts of the tests - reversing, uncoupling/recoupling the trailer - are to be done by the trainer, not the test centre? Will that get him the numbers? It certainly might get him some conflict of interest.

The UK put its proposed tariff schedule to other WTO members on 22 July 2018, which might seem ludicrously late.

Did anybody at the BBC notice?

At least seven countries have lodged major objections to the proposal.

Shouldn't that be considered news?

#bbcaq
Here's the official UK attempt to establish an independent position in the WTO. There are no supporting documents.

And here's a decent journalist's thread on the subject of the UK's position in the WTO, with the documentation.
