(๐งต1/4) ๐จ#txlege House Ways & Means Committee convening now where among several items they will be deliberating #HB2 or the #PropertyTax "Relief" Act, a priority of House Leadership. You can tune in here โคต๏ธ house.texas.gov/video-audio/
(๐งต2/4) #HB2 aims to cut appraisal caps from 10% to 5% & give #propertytax relief through school M&O compression (which we support). We think more compression & adding a path to eliminating the tax altogether is not only possible but necessary for Texas Taxpayers! #txlege
(๐งต1/5) No one can have an honest conversation about #propertytax relief without also talking about reducing spending. Texas collectively does not have a revenue problem, it has a spending problem. #txlege lawmakers should consider curtailing local government spending
(๐งต2/5) #txlege lawmakers should support #HB2258 by State Rep @BriscoeCain which would impose a spending cap on counties/cities based on population & #inflation, just like the new spending cap on the state level.
(๐งต3/5) #txlege lawmakers should support #HB2220 by State Rep. @brianeharrison which would lower the voter-approval tax rate to that of the No-New-Revenue tax rate, meaning if local govs. want to raise taxes even one cent, they should go to the voters.
@BryanforHD2 attempted to make a motion to delay consideration of #HR4 until THURS, 1/12. In response, the Speaker indicated he was not recognized for such motions.
Notable proposed changes in this proposed version of #HR3: Housekeeping Resolution:
๐Increase in #txlege staff compensation from a max $5,280/mo ($63,360) to that of $6,000/mo ($72,000). One staff member can still be exempted from this cap.
๐ Increase in monthly operating account credit from $15,250/mo ($183k/yr) to $17,250/mo ($207k/yr) in session and $15,500/mo (186k/yr) in #txlege interim.
