A. As @RonniSalt first reported last night, @SenatorHume’s outrageous attack on @Mon4Kooyong via Rupert’s #NewsCorpse stooges for not attending Parliamentary Divisions several days ago is a clear indication Murdoch intends to help Frydenberg win back the seat.
B. The piece (part-written by Simon Benson’s mate Geoff Chambers, who together hid evidence of Morrison’s multiple ministries last year to better spruik their book) is just 1 in a deluge of recent pieces going after Dr. Ryan & other so-called “Teal” candidates & parliamentarians.
C. Not only was the piece unbelievably insensitive given Dr. Ryan left the House because of the sudden death of a close family member (pic via @RonniSalt), but other news came to light last night revealing Jane Hume herself missed a majority of Parliamentary Divisions last week.
D. Hume is just another of the LNP’s boy-sucks, who are regularly pressured by the men who run the Party to lead their morality- and empathy-free attacks on whoever is in their sights any particular week.
Like Julie Bishop, Julia Banks & other women before her, she’ll …
E. … discover at some point that the minute she stops doing their shameful bidding, she will also be discarded, demoted or thrown under the LNP’s patriarchal, misogynistic bus.
The reason Hume attacks Ryan is simple.
The LNP want Kooyong back for Josh Frydenberg.
F. While the stunning success of all the so-called “Teal” candidates elected in 2022 shocked the LNP to the core, the loss of their blue-ribbon inner-Melbourne seat AND their blue-ribbon candidate for next potential LNP Prime Minister was unbearable for them.
G. They’ll do whatever it takes (amply aided by Rupert, of course) to get Frydenberg back into the seat.
And of course, Frydenberg and Hume are besties from way back.
It’s crucial that the LNP and Murdoch don’t succeed in their attempts to smear Dr. Ryan and others.
H. While the Sally Rugg issue was not engineered by Murdoch or the LNP, it was highlighted way beyond the public interest by #NewsCorpse, again in an attempt to paint Ryan as an incompetent employer.
Nor is that issue yet resolved, although the case to come appears largely …
I. … about Commonwealth employment law rather than a further attack on Ryan.
It’s also relevant that these attacks are timed for just prior to the upcoming #NSWvotes election, where more “Teal” candidates hope to be elected.
J. If their overall “brand” is further damaged by repeated media and opposition attacks, this spells danger in those electorates where people still refuse to vote Labor but have shown they no longer wish to vote for Dutton’s hard-right fucking arseholes.
K. While MFW have traditionally been ambivalent about the “Teal” candidates and MPs because most appear to be less progressive than we’d prefer, our mantra at the last federal election was “vote for anything left of the LNP & other far-right candidates”.
L. This was because we understood electing candidates who would at least help repeal much of the fuckery of the past 9 years was critical, in a country where Murdoch’s iron grip on the media prevented huge numbers of people from understanding key issues adequately.
M. In other words, our disgraceful media laws mean baby steps are required in moving the population (too slowly, it’s true) towards more progressive thinking, and the “Teals” are an important part of that process.
For that reason alone (not to mention basic humanity) …
N. … Dr. Ryan deserves our support & Murdoch & his lap dogs (those he employs, & those in the LNP he bribes) deserve our full contempt.
Fuck off, Jane Hume.
You’re a hypocrite, an empathy-free boy-suck & part of a corrupt cabal of has-beens who need to piss off forever.
Ends.

Memo for Lisa Millar and the @abcnews Breakfast team (who can no longer be tagged via their own program).
Maternity leave is just ONE small reason women normally retire with much lower Super balances than men do.
There are many sexist, unfair reasons, including:
1/-
A. Women typically earn less from their very first job, because of innate discrimination in company hiring practices;
B. Female-dominated careers have lower overall wages than male-dominated careers (think early childhood education workers vs. the mining industry);
2/-
C. Because female-dominated careers pay less, women in them tend to have greater breaks from the workplace as they’re forced to change jobs more often;
D. Women who push for pay rises during their careers are seen as bossy and unliveable, while men are seen as ambitious;
To emphasise this first: IF YOU CAN’T BOYCOTT ANY ORGANISATION BECAUSE OF DISABILITY, MOBILITY ISSUES OR FOR ANY OTHER REASON, PLEASE DON’T FEEL GUILTY.
The 10%-20% of people who CAN’T boycott a company don’t matter: what matters is the 80% who can do so if they try.
2/10
Coles & Woolworths are 2 of around 20 big companies who together fund more than 50% of Murdoch’s operations here.
That’s one reason boycotting them is so important.
But apart from that, both these Big 2 chains are now engaging in price gouging during a terrible time …
But for now, we’ll limit ourselves to addressing just one issue.
So here’s a 🧵.
1/-
We want to address the implication that Brittany is somehow complicit with Labor or some sections of the media by meeting with prominent Australians during the furore over her alleged rape.
It may surprise people to learn that when a person or group is in the news …
2/-
… they often talk to or take opinions from other people, esp. people who’ve been through similar public issues.
When we were in the middle of the Alan Jones campaign, for eg, we constantly spoke to many people and groups.
1. If you say you don’t wanna scrap #COVID19 protections because they’re annoying: well, road safety rules are also annoying.
2. If you say you don’t wanna scrap ‘em because Australia can’t afford it: well, we spend hundreds of billions on obsolete submarines & affords those.
3. If you say it’s because people hate #COVID19 restrictions: well, they don’t like bans on taking bottled liquids & nail scissors on planes, either.
4. If you say it’s because COVID is “just a flu”: well, there’s no flu that kills from heart attacks & strokes for months after.
5. If you say it’s because there’s no point protecting ppl from disease: well, we’ve MASSIVE health & border control programs to protect from many other diseases.
6. If you say it’s because we have vaxxes: well, they don’t protect much from repeat infection, & immunity’s waning.
A. Okay so here’s a 🧵 on all the things people are getting wrong about Alan Jones & others spreading hatred, lies, racism and misogyny on shows like QandA.
Strap yourself in.
1. For the love of Christ, stop saying it’s fine for arseholes to be given big media platforms.
B. If you can listen to Jones spreading his hate on Indigenous affairs without being badly traumatised, it makes you highly privileged.
For you to say others should also be able to listen to it too because “balance is important” or “they show themselves up as pricks” is shit.
C. The best analogy here is the Equal Marriage plebiscite.
Straight people everywhere said it was fine or important because “we’ll get all views” & “we’ll know for sure this is what the nation wants”.
Meanwhile, LGBTIQA+ Australians were suiciding & traumatised by the debate.
