🧵It's funny to me how #TheMandalorian popularized the "on-set virtual production" which is a fancy way of saying Hollywood finally, officially, reinvented the "moving panorama" 🤭 Image
Moving panoramas have been a form of entertainment for centuries, though largely forgotten by all but folks with niche interests (👋)now. The concept is the same though. ImageImage
Sometimes the panorama itself didn't move. The viewer did. Structures were built all over major cities in the 19th century to house multi-story panoramas. Here's one from Regent's Park in London, circa 1829. Image
Customers would climb the circular staircase in the center to get a 360-degree "bird's eye view" of the city. Here's an illustration showing people walking around the covered walkway (lower left) for a sense of scale. Image
This is an earlier one from the 18th century in Leicester Square. Image
Sometimes they were three-dimensional, as this one of the Trans-Siberian railway from the Paris World Fair in 1900 (the rail was still under construction, so this was PR) Image
Anyhoo, time is a flat circle, etc. etc.

I don't think we talk enough about how Italy ran at least 16 concentration camps during #WWII where Mussolini ethnically cleansed Croatians, Slavs, and Jews. Italy really just tried to memory-holed their atrocities.
When the camps were shut down in 1943, the Jewish survivors who couldn't flee were shipped to Auschwitz 🙃
Like, how the fuck is Mussolini's party literally back in power in Italy and we're all acting like that's normal and okay? Image

Just read the Gwyneth Paltrow "wellness" interview. Hoo boy. She doesn't need ketone drinks that taste like "cherry gasoline" or rectal ozone injections(??). She needs calories. Sugar. Carbs. She has brain fog because she's starving and her metabolism is cannibalizing her brain😐 Image
Ketosis is what happens when your body is literally starving to death. It is not a "diet" or a way of life (unless you live in a place where chronic malnutrition is common). You are literally poisoning your blood, which is why they tell you drink so much water. Fucking stop this. Image
If you can balance a roll of pennies in the indentation of your clavicle, you are malnourished. Eat something.

If I could choose my #LastTweet it would be this: the "Roman Empire" isn't real. "Rome" produced zero unique material culture. Zero primary documents. Zero radiocarbon dates of famous "Roman" monuments. It's a fictional homogenizaton of European indigenous culture by the Church.
Numismatics is pseudoscience nonsense.
Like y'all think they "New World" was the Church's first rodeo? Naw, they got the refined stream-lined version.

Man, it sure would be cool if archaeologists would check their emails. I've got dozens of folders full of cool shit like this that I can't get anyone to look at. Just a 22-mile-long, 40-foot-wide wall in the middle of the Arabian Peninsula, nbd Image
Just a hillside town or commercial center in the desert of Turkey. Definitely not worth responding to my emails about it...obviously. Image
Just a bunch of farm terraces (or I guess city terraces) and a major building footprint in the Iraq desert. Not worth investigating, I suppose Image
