It’s so easy to think of writing as a solitary process - but it’s taken 7 years & all kinds of support to reach this point. So I want to take a moment to thank all those people & organisations who helped make this book possible:
🧵
First up, never underestimate the importance of a good editor - and @CommaJane at @NineArchesPress is wonderful! And the same goes for @agent_luck at @CWAgencyUK. It's so important to have that kind of core team supporting your book.
In 2018, I received a DYCP grant to travel to the US to research the collection - so an especially big thank you to @ace_national@ace_thenorth, to the wonderful staff at @nypl, and to Cane Ridge Meeting House, who were all invaluable in the research process.
RESOURCES FOR WRITERS: a list of organisations, opportunities & support, which you really ought to have on your writerly radar, and which I wish had been on my own radar earlier in my career. Hope you find them useful. #thread#amwriting#writer
If you're a writer, join @Soc_of_Authors. They're great advocates for writers' rights, & offer PDF guides on working as a writer, specific advice on contracts etc for members & discounts on books! They also offer grants for work in progress & run annual awards.
