#OTD in 1999: A USAF F-117 [82-0806/HO] is shot down in Buđanovci (Serbia). Pilot Darrell Zelko ejects safely and is rescued 8 hours later. Jet was taking part in combat operations on Yugoslav Wars and was hit by a Serbian S-125 SAM. It´s the only F-117 lost in military action.

#OTD in 1968: Death of Yuri Gagarin. A Soviet AF Mig-15 trainer [739] crashes in Kirzach [USSR]. All 2-crew die, including former cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, the 1st man in space. On a training flight, jet went into an irrecoverable flatspin, reasons for loss of control were unclear.
