We’re really excited & nervous about getting youth out to the polls to #Vote because after speaking with over 100 teens about voting we’ve seen striking similarities. 1. Barriers to voting like not having bills in their names, $ to get a State ID, having no home address 🧵👇🏾👇🏾👇🏾

It’s beyond difficult to get your social security card & birth certificate when you’re houseless &/or estranged with your family. 2. Where’s the Pop Ed/Political Education for youth? A lot of youth didn’t know about the candidates or their platforms. 🧵👇🏾

But when you bring up the issues like housing, violence prevention, environmental justice etc, youth really care but there’s a disconnect because a lot of them are shocked when you inform them about the ways the Mayor & city council impacts their communities.

This instantly motivates them to want to go vote. It’s a reason youth don’t vote. We rightfully don’t trust the government, it’s difficult to register to vote if you’re poor & we’re apathetic because no one educates us, politicizes us or includes us!
