We've written a lot of threads on #Tennessee status at the bottom of 50 states on virtually everything from average income to life expectancy. Sadly it isn't a surprise that @TNGOP is now resorting to authoritarianism, since its members lack the skills to lead our state. 🧵
Basically the issue is that @TNGOP "leadership" puts big business/their donors first. They don't even think about average Tennesseans, since those folks don't have big bucks to pour into campaign coffers.
As a result #Tennessee has some of the worst outcomes for residents in the United States. Some of them are comparable to the undeveloped world, not a state in the most powerful country in human history.
The second #NoNewNashvilleStadium vote is THIS TUESDAY. We wrote a petition with some background information and links to actions folks have already taken such as a great open letter from @_kellykitty_.
The petition contains links to contact Metro Councilmembers, tho you can also do that here. You may want to contact them all, since #WarOnNashville may affect who represents you soon.
Earlier in our mentions we drew a troll who claims we're "making stuff up" when talking about Tennessee's status at the bottom of every measure of the civilized world on everything from child mortality to literacy to medical bankruptcy. Not the case. 🧵
We're seeing folks pick up some of our language on this. For our beloved followers rather than Mr. Troll, here's some source material for topics we often discuss.
Child mortality: TN is generally bottom 10, tho some years we're #42, some it's #44.
Literacy: TN is bottom 12 states for adult literacy in a survey done for the US Department of Education in 2017. (You want page 3.) There may be later or generally different surveys, but we doubt this stat will change much for various reasons.
