Shauchalay ki Story in 4 takes:
In 2014 PM @narendramodi initiated his #SwachhBharat programme, transforming rural life in #India like never before. Individual household toilets have ensured hygiene and dignity. More than 11 crore toilets have been built. Work continues.
n1
In 2013 CM Modi raised the issue of how rural India has cellphones but lacks shauchalayas (toilets).
I recall Congress worthies mocking him — ‘Modi has only toilets to offer’.
It was lost on them that 6 decades after independence, our villages were not open defecation free.
n2
Individual household toilets in villages and schools have had multiple impact: 1. Diseases linked to open defecation and poor hygiene have drastically reduced; 2. Fewer girls are dropping out of school; 4. Dignity has been ensured for women.
Congress never thought of all this.
n3
Post-Script:
CAG report says allegedly educated @ArvindKejriwal has not built a single toilet under Swachh Bharat Mission.
He has instead built a swimming pool at his residence, reportedly at the cost of ₹21 crore.
Kejriwal does not build toilets because he won’t use them.

On @IndianExpress story about NCERT textbooks, Dinesh Prasad Saklani, Director of NCERT, has said today:
“It's a lie. (Chapters on) Mughals have not been dropped. There was a rationalisation process last year because due to COVID, there was pressure on students everywhere...”
n1
“Expert committees examined the books from std 6-12. They recommended that if this chapter is dropped, it won't affect the knowledge of the children and an unnecessary burden can be removed...”
~ Dinesh Prasad Saklani, Director of NCERT.
n2
“The debate is unnecessary. Those who don’t know, can check the textbooks... We are working as per National Education Policy 2020. This is a transition phase. NEP 2020 speaks of reducing the content load. We are implementing it.”
~ Dinesh Prasad Saklani, Director of NCERT.

Why Congress MP Rahul Gandhi faces 'immediate disqualification' as per landmark Supreme Court judgement of 10 July 2013:
Trial court has held Rahul Gandhi guilty of criminal defamation; sentenced him to 2 years jail. SC has said this should lead to immediate disqualification.
n1
In Lily Thomas vs Union of India judgement of 10 July 2013, Supreme Court of India ruled that 'any MP, MLA or MLC who is convicted of a crime and given a minimum of 2 years' jail, loses membership of the House with immediate effect'.
n2
Supreme Court of India's 10 July 2013 judgement negates previous position which allowed convicted MPs, MLAs, MLCs to retain their seats until they had exhausted all judicial remedy in lower, state and Supreme Court of India.

'Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing in the Art and Antiquities Market' report by Financial Action Task Force, global money laundering and terrorist financing watchdog, cites case of Yes Bank CMD Rana Kapoor purchasing painting from Priyanka Gandhi at inflated price.
n1
Here is how #FATF presents ED's case on Kapoor buying painting from Priyanka Gandhi as an example of 'Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing':
"The below case, for example, takes advantage of the price volatility of some cultural objects."
n2
"This can be done with art of no or little value, together with false sales/false auction, or under/over-pricing. The case revealed that the suspect bought art of no actual value at a price of $264000 from a close associate of a corrupt politician in order to pay kickbacks."

Hello @Independent your correspondent @miss_rai1 has no clue which piece in @nytimes elicited the sharp response from I&B Minister @ianuragthakur Yet she has peddled a false report reeking of bias and you’ve published it without fact-checking.
White West media is truly shameless.
Among agenda-driven White West media @Independent outshines others in peddling fiction out of #India
This leftie paper once (in)famously reported Indian Army jawans were draping themselves in white sheets and descending on Kashmir villages at night as ‘ghosts’ to scare Kashmiris.
Such is the credibility of @Independent and its so-called journalists like @miss_rai1 who are high on fiction and low on facts. They don’t even care to across-check before filing ‘reports’; the paper doesn’t bother with fact-checking before publishing bilious bilge.
