🧂PSA - As a social worker, I see firsthand how #politics affects social policies and communities. If you're a politician who is interested in reviewing policy, learning more about #MentalHealth, or how to help the communities you represent - let's chat.
I am seeing too many statements from politicians about mental health and it's either inaccurate or woefully ignorant. Some of them want to be misleading on purpose but I challenge their opponents to increase their own knowledge and confidence when speaking on these issues.
Social workers are trained to look at issues from a holistic approach and can provide data-driven insights. We take an evidence-based approach & are held to a strict code of ethics. We're also great communication coaches.
We can help you build rapport with your constituents. Over 60% of TN seats ran uncontested against Republicans. Let's encourage more Dem candidates and give them the tools they need to be successful. Please RT, I'm happy to talk to any candidates or perspective candidates.
Just *some* of the TN Bill highlights from this week:
Tn Senate passes bill to protect gun makers from civil liability 19-9 (R).
TN House - placed on reg calendar 4/19/23, bill to inform TN students of voting age where they can register to vote. They killed the bill last year.
TN Senate Rs vote on bill to vacate TSU Board of Trustees in attempt to takeover college leadership.
Bill that would allow teachers to be arm in the classroom not voted on Monday and moved to Wed. Sidenote: Some Covenant TN staff were armed.
Bill passed for college censorship - no "divisive topics".
Bill to expedite process of rape kits in 30days pushed off to 2024 despite having 250M in "rainy day" fund. Same bill was prev pushed & if it had not, Eliza Fletcher's murder & rapist would likely have been arrested.
