This is an absolutely remarkable - and chilling - indictment. Several American black leftist groups and activists are being charged with felonies for posting memes and other political content against the war in Ukraine, protesting racial injustice: allegedly on behalf of Russia:
Here's one of the leaders of one of the groups who is now indicted, Omali Yeshitela of @_InPDUM, speaking at a "Peace in Ukraine" rally last month.

Criminalizing speech is becoming increasingly common by claiming the speech serves Russia's interests:

Here's the Instagram page of one of the groups claimed to be criminally doing Russia's bidding: its content is exactly what you'd expect from American Black leftist/socialists, including attacks on Biden for the war, anti-DNC stuff and #BLM cases:

instagram.com/blackhammerorg…
Even more chilling is how media outlets cover these DOJ indictments: mindlessly treating them as proven fact:

Anchor: "Jim, this shows how active Russia is in our democracy"

"Reporter": Indeed: chilling. [Proceeds to read from indictment without an ounce of skepticism]
There is absolutely a campaign long underway to criminalize dissent in the US. As long as you stay within mainstream limits - what Obama called "within the 40-yard lines" -- you're fine.

What's criminalized are anti-establishment voices: right or left:

All this is independent of the fact that the US not only does exactly what these indictments claim Russia (and China) do, but far more extreme. The US funds dissident groups in many nations, creates fake internets to destabilize, etc. You'd think reporters would mention this: ImageImageImage
We'll be covering these indictments (there were 2 yesterday, another involving claims about China) on tonight's @SystemUpdate_.

For now, here's @caitoz on the Russia indictment:

caitlinjohnstone.com/2023/04/19/bid…
Humans are tribal so I guess it shouldn't be that surprising but it's still amazing how the US media treats accusations from the US Government as unquestionably true (reading indictments = reporting), while similar accusations from adversary governments are inherently false.

A Key Left-Liberal Tactic: Hold Everyone But Yourself to the Highest Moral Standards (& Get Rich!) --

Starring John Kerry, Robert Reich and Hasan Piker (and yes, they have a lot in common when it comes to this specific deceit):

rumble.com/v2j7xcs-key-le…
The most blatant lie left-liberals tell themselves is they're marginalized, and those craving money thus "move right."

The easiest path to getting rich in media is planting oneself in the #Resistance or Bernie/AOC Dem wing, then ranting about Trump as Putin's Orange Hitler. ImageImageImageImage
This segment focuses on this faction's worst pathology: their framework whereby the *least relevant* metric for judging one's character and values is the way someone lives their life – thus relieving them of the obligation to align their lives with their claimed political views. Very telling that if one goes to DC, the only place one can hear this message is from the right-wing populist wing of the GOP.

Every single Dem - from Bernie to AOC - voted to fund the war in Ukraine, what Lula calls "incentivizing" and "encouraging the war":
Because every national "progressive" supports Biden's war policies in Ukraine - with Liz Cheney, Lindsey Graham and co. - most of "left media" that branded on Bernie/AOC is silent to supportive.

Impressive how much the DNC has the "US left" on lockdown:

Are the "progressives" in the US Congress (and their left-media servants) too stupid to know this is really what the war they're supporting is about, or do they recognize that the Dem Party to which they are fully loyal is devoted to this constituency?

Look what's going on here:

First the NYT (jointly with CIA-front Bellingcat) and WPost hunted down, exposed and ensured the arrest of the 21-year-old leaker.

Now they're having a party with the docs, publishing one "EXCLUSIVE" after the next as if they bravely "obtained" them: ImageImage
Each time these news outlets publish reporting on these docs -- as we did -- it's an implicit admission that they are newsworthy, that the public should know about them.

That's what makes it so repellent that media corporations are the ones who hunted him down on behalf of FBI.
Last night we devoted our @SystemUpdate_ to the full story of what happened with Assange -- in part because it's the 4th anniversary of his being imprisoned in the Belmarsh prison despite no conviction, but also because it relates to this current leaker:

Every time an important leaker emerges -- not an authorized one (i.e., CIA/FBI feeds the NYT or NBC) but one that's *unauthorized* (exposing their lies) -- the establishment playbook is the same: malign the personal character of the leaker to distract:👇

greenwald.locals.com/post/3847099/t…
This is a perfect example of what my above article describes. Here's the US/EU-funded @bellingcat -- who helped the NYT do the FBI's job of catching the leaker -- insisting you obsess on the leaker's motives and character, not what the documents reveal:

Julian Assange is likely responsible for breaking more major stories than any journalist of his generation.

Vox - all of them - never broke anything. Look at the infantile trash they published to justify his arrest in 2019.

This is always the playbook for *unauthorized* leaks: Image

I can barely put into words how dangerous and twisted it is that it is now the NYT and WashPost that does the FBI's job for it by hunting down leakers of classified information -- the people on whom real journalism depends -- working in tandem with state-funded Bellingcat:
Look how Democratic Party media personalities -- in both this tweet and the replies that follow -- are treating as normal, *celebrating*, that it's now major media corporations that do the FBI's work.

Dems are 100% aligned with the US Security State:

Here are Washington Post and New York Times reporters celebrating themselves and all the cool things they did when doing the FBI's job of tracking down leakers and exposing their identity to ensure they are arrested:

Holy shit: this NYT news article by @michaelcrowley has 2 gigantic, glaring factual errors in the first 3 paragraphs:

1) Snowden didn't give the archive to WikiLeaks for publication, but rather to me and Laura Poitras.

2) The Merkel story didn't come from the Snowden archive: Image
This story was published by the NYT 12 hours ago. Numerous top editors who oversaw publication of our reporting -- then-Guardian-editor-in-chief @janinegibson and Intercept's @MargotWilliams -- quickly corrected them, but the paper ignored it, still has these errors up: Image
Of course all journalists and outlets make minor errors but these are major. No journalist has any business writing about the Snowden reporting if they believe WikiLeaks published it. That's just massive ignorance that made it through all their editors.
