1/ On Jan 23, 2021, the Digital Director for the COVID-19 Response Team contacted Twitter to remove an anti-vaccine tweet by @RobertKennedyJr. She asked for oversight on similar tweets.

2/ On Feb 6, 2021, the ex-Deputy Assistant to the President (Rob Flaherty) urged Twitter to suspend a parody account associated with President Biden’s granddaughter. Twitter acted swiftly, suspending the account in 45 minutes.

1/ Spare me the crocodile tears at the CDC exits! This institution DESTROYED children and RUINED trust in health institutions for a generation. The whole place needs to be gutted!

When historians look back on the COVID years, they won’t just document a virus. They’ll document the collapse of America’s most trusted health agency into a factory of fear, censorship, and bad science. The CDC didn’t just miss the mark --> it repeatedly tripped over its own contradictions, buried evidence, and treated the public as an obstacle instead of a partner.

2/ The CDC’s own reports admitted errors, yet they fought to keep the receipts hidden. Instead of transparency, the agency slow-walked Freedom of Information Act requests, releasing half-empty inboxes years after the fact.

3/ Every week, the CDC sent “BOLO lists” of so-called misinformation directly to Twitter. They coordinated with Facebook (which happily dropped $15 million in free ad credits), and even pressured Google to shape search results.

This wasn’t public health—it was narrative enforcement. Federal health bureaucrats deciding what Americans were allowed to read, post, or share.

1/🧵 Welcome to the Hall of Woke! The San Diego science museum opened its doors for December Nights and we took all the kids for the lights, food and fun. While the girls were using the restroom I was waiting in what appears to be the Hall of Woke - just outside.

Get ready for the ride.

The wall was emblazoned with rainbows and portraits declaring: New Science! “Queer and intersectional identities are revolutionizing how science gets done”

2/ The hallway, featured a dozen of the craziest most aggressive intersectionality “science people” ever assembled. They even had a queer Sikh with a rainbow Turban: “To me, science is personal. I bring my multifaceted identity into the lab, and it informs the work
I choose to do and the way in which I do it. I enjoy doing interdisciplinary work that combines different methods from neuropsychology and neuroimaging along with advanced quantitative approaches, and I think that this overall strategy comes from an understanding of individual people as layered.
My expression of queerness is influenced by my
Sikh values, which motivate me to be visible and work towards equity within science and beyond.”

3/ Then you come across the superhero known as shark-non-binary person! (They/Them pronouns on many posters). “Sharks and I share a similar story-we are both ambassadors of our own existence and we both fight against a dying world. As one of a handful of non-binary people of color in shark sciences, I continue to lead the way for diversity and inclusion in academia, not just out of passion, but survival.”

🧵As the Good Book says, "there is nothing new under the sun." The absurdity and chaos of the Covid pandemic was an echo. Let's go back 400 years to Milan, Italy where a REAL plague (THE plague) drove that city INSANE. 1/

In his 1827 novel I Promessi Sposi (The Betrothed), Italian author Alessandro Manzoni writes about the difficult journey of two lovers affianced in 17the century Milan. The story is fiction but was thoroughly researched by Manzoni from original source journals. 2/

The fatality rate of the plague has been estimated between 30% and 60% but Manzoni points out that the more ruinous part of the disease was the fear! "The image of this supposed danger beset and tortured the minds of the people far more than the real and existing danger." 3/
