Preparing my first biz trip in 3 years – I am obviously rusty... I used to be good at that stuff, now it feels like I am flailing around... Things are however coming – slowly – together. I managed to get my samples from France BEFORE the departure date! Wasn't a given outcome...
The mere fact that I have to make checklists is disconcerting. But at least – hopefully! – I won't forget anything...
I've also updated my Cathay Mileage Tracker – it has had very little activity in the last 3 years, except for point transfers from my bank account, and gifts from #CX (thank you!).
With this first trip, I will have 50% of the points needed to renew my Marco Polo Gold status.
Unless something Real Bad™ happens, renewing should be easy peasy. Just need to get a bit of business going this month, and vee shoult be golten.
Speaking of samples, I gotta admit, #DHL#HK did a very good job. They were quite proactive and helpful. It didn't hurt that I have the DHL Customs Clearance team on speed dial and knew who to call and what to say.
They got my stuff cleared and delivered in 24 hours after I gave them an Excel file. It wasn't always this efficient. Props to them.
Speaking of DHL/Not DeeChel and CX/Not Sex, I have 2 flights on Friday, one with CX and one with MH. Then 2 more flights with MH on the 8. One more with MH, and a final flight with CX on the 11. In my Marco Polo account, all flights are listed. That's how a good airline works.

Me, one month ago, enthusiastically booking an 08:00 flight.
Me, today, realizing I have to get up at 04:30 tomorrow... WHY DO I KEEP DOING THIS TO MYSELF?
So, tomollo, I have two flights. A bit retarded to fly 4 hours south and west, to then fly 2.5 hours slightly north and east... But that's post-Covid flying for you... There used to be a DragonAir flight HKG-BKI, second screenshot, followed by a 30-mn hop on a turboprop.
There is still I believe one HKG-BKI direct flight, but it's an AirAsia flight, and there's absolutely no way I fly with them EVER again.
I used to be on some travel forums, but it appeared very quickly they were mostly a waste of time – they were full of Norteamericanos who have very little clue about international travel, and view everything though their very narrow lens of US domestic travel.
Being clueless is one thing – happens to everybody after all at some point... – but being at the same time assertive and dismissive, while displaying a sheer lack of knowledge on the subject was a constant with them.
Also, any negative feedback about the US, even mild and justified, could get you drowned in insults and yelling. I even had a post censored because I called US domestic air travel medieval – which it is, if you've ever traveled outside the US.
