29.5Million MT of agricultural products including 14.8Million MT of corn, that’s a lot of grain.
Two ships left Ukraine on 05May, inspections reported today were:
Inbound 05May 2
Outbound 05May 1
Two ships moved into Odesa area ports. Four ships are inspected and waiting to transit the humanitarian corridor. There are 13 ships in the Odesa area ports. #MyPrecious
The BSGI has moved 29.5Million MT of agricultural products including almost 600,000MT of wheat for @WFP programs which feed the most vulnerable populations in the world.
Ukrainian grain has quite literally saved lives through the Black Sea Grain Initiative.
Consider how much patience it takes to work daily with two nations at war with each other in order to enable exports.
Moreover, consistently knowing you’re working against a timeline to implement an initiative that is critical for global food security is a heavy burden to carry.
The consistency of the of the grain corridor has become normal, we depend on it. It is anything but normal. The staff at the Joint Coordination Centre deserve a lot more thanks than I’m sure they get on a daily basis and it is absolutely imperative this work continues.
