As with #SunshineWeek, this @WhiteHouse is not hosting any public events for #OpenGovWeek, despite the US government being elected to @opengovpart leadership: groups.google.com/g/us-open-gove… & the void in public updates on US commitments. @POTUS isn’t leading by the power of our example.

Ongoing efforts to improve public participation in rulemaking at @WhiteHouse OIRA are a ray of sunshine: governing.digital/2023/04/25/pub… as are efforts across agencies, from @USNatArchives to @CommerceGov.
This #OpenGovWeek, this @POTUS should be building on @OpenGov44, not ignoring it.

Given that void, there’s been a collapse in trust in @opengovpart on the part of the U.S. civil society as a platform for achieving reforms.

This @WhiteHouse approached a new plan as a compliance exercise so @USAID @StateDept can keep recommending OGP to other nations.

Um. @aeyakuze my comment that "less than 1% of Americans know about OGP" to mean 3 million of us do.

No way.

I bet < 5000 Americans have ever heard of @opengovpart, much less participated.

That's why @WhiteHouse45 & @WhiteHouse could openwash without consequence.

@aeyakuze @opengovpart @WhiteHouse45 @WhiteHouse I understand why folks at @opengovpart might not want to talk about a decade of milquetoast responses to democratic backsliding, but if Mexico does defund its transparency agency (@INAImexico), OGP should act – as it failed to do during the Trump years. apnews.com/article/mexico…
