Riddle me this, cos I’m seriously thinking it through.
Starmer is right on a couple of things, namely the Tories are no longer what they used to be, but a far right populist, extremist outfit. And Labour have moved into the ground vacated, & are now a moderate right wing party…

Who is our left or even centre-left option?
Cos it’s fine if Starmer’s Labour is “coming out” as the real Conservatives. You do you.
But neither me, nor my family, nor most young people have ever, nor plan to ever, vote Conservative you see. Not under any name or colour…

So I’m totally unsure what I, or people in progressive big cities are doing come the election to be honest. But if we don’t get a new left party to replace the dominoes shifting to the right, then this country is ridiculous.

But it is perfectly possible (look at Brighton) for a smaller party with a brilliant candidate to take from the left.
Greens could be that partly, many of us have long hoped they would, but if not them, who else? The dregs of kicked out Corbynists have too much baggage I think…

But if some actors from that space gave up their personal ambitions and got behind the scenes strategising with a brilliant slate of untarnished new candidates, that could make a big difference.
I know I’m talking about politicians without egos here, which is a fantasy…

I hate straying into the party politics quagmire #onhere cos so many idiots tell me I should just think differently (& they wonder why it doesn’t convince anyone?)
But I do think this country sucks if it doesn’t have a left or even centre left electoral option, so I’m saying it.

A lot of people tell me not to listen to what Starmer says but wait to see how actually after winning, he’ll do something totally different that I’ll like… I’ve heard that perspective. I heard it with Corbyn too tbh. And all of them. It’s the same story & it is not good enough.
But if we get there & he’s the new Tories, claiming immigration is out of control & he won’t repeal the Tories’ hateful nationality & borders act or illegal migration bill then there really won’t be anything for me left there.
I will (have always) ultimately vote tactically…

But I would really like some good people, really good people, to get on with it and stand across big cities already. Stand as linked independents, or as Greens arguably, I don’t know.
