In the plea filed by makers of #TheKeralaStory against alleged "shadow ban" of the movie in the State of Tamil Nadu, the State has submitted that the allegations that Tamil Nadu has prevented the public exhibition of the movie are baseless.
As per the affidavit filed by Tamil Nadu, the movie was released in 19 multiplexes in Tamil Nadu on 05.05.2023 and there is no order banning the screening of the film.
"The State of Tamil Nadu has taken all steps possible to safeguard the freedom of speech and expression of the Petitioner guaranteed under Article 19(1)(a)," states the affidavit.
The affidavit adds that after the release of the movie, multiplex owners took the decision to stop its screening in view of the criticism recieved, lack of well-known actors, poor performance, and poor audience response.
