Women are under represented in the sport and @TableTennisENG wants to boost the numbers of women playing the game only 12% of its membership are female

A🧵
We wrote to @parkrunUK to express our concern at their policy which permits men to identify as female
Here is our letter and @parkrunUK response👇
Their reply is disingenuous at best!
They fail to respond to the issues raised including our example of a MALE having held the FEMALE course record at @parkrunUK for 4 years!
Astonishingly, female erasure for @parkrun is ‘inclusive!
Parkrun assert they are a “non-competitive socially-focussed physical activity” this is dishonest
As like competitive sports
❗️participants' times are recorded
❗️course records held ❗️@parkrun takes your time & uses the world record time for your SEX & age to produce a score

A thread 🧵
This week @Oxfam went on @GMB to explain why they were being inclusive by removing the word mother from their policy and guidance.
They are not the first organisation to do this as we will show in this thread. #MothersDay /1
Does it really matter if gender inclusive language is used?
Women are often told "don't be silly" "get a grip" the word mother isn't being erased. But if you look more closely it is & we believe that is a problem.
It is a fact that only women give birth & we all have a mother /2
Our experience of that will be different because not all mothers are the same.
A version of the word mother, mum, mom, ma etc is often the first word a baby will say. Mothers & motherhood are rooted in thousands of years of society. #MothersDay /3

The @Tate recently invited a “storytime drag queen” to perform a half-term show for children. Here is a short thread 🧵explaing why #WRN think drag queens should not be performing for children, with links to articles in support of the arguments #NoToDragQueenStoryHour

The Women’s Rights Network has sent this letter to The Prime Minister @UkDowning Ministers at the department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sports @DCMS and to the Trustees of the @Tate Galleries #NoToDragQueenStoryHour /2
Drag queens should not be reading or telling stories to children. The performances are touted as being family friendly, but this article by Emma Thomas sets out why this is not true: womensrights.network/post/the-famil… #NoToDragQueenStoryHour /3
