Clear words from @Bundeskanzler Scholz: “This bitter chapter in our continent’s history — instigated by Putin in his imperialist madness — will end with a free #Ukraine joining the European Union as a full member.”
This clarity is refreshing. But the complicit elephant in the room remains: what consequences will there be for 🇩🇪 politicians & businesses who appeased, enabled, &/or actively aided Russia’s “imperialist madness”? From #Schröder to @ManuelaSchwesig & beyond, 🇩🇪 must clean house
The other elephant in the room: #NATO. @Bundeskanzler Scholz hasn’t yet accepted the need for full NATO membership for #Ukraine, with security guarantees during the ascension process. As with heavy weapons deliveries, we must expect Germany to arrive late to that party too.
