We describe #pSESYNTH, an example of scientific community mobilization & collaboration focused on the #GlobalSouth, i.e. Latin America & the Caribbean, Africa, Asia, & parts of Oceania where researchers have been historically marginalized from international collaborations. (3/n)

The overarching goal of #pSESYNTH is to build the first multi-disciplinary paleo #database representing #GlobalSouth regions through establishing, articulating & strengthening regional & interdisciplinary teams invested in studying its past human-environmental systems. (4/n)

Under #pSESYNTH framework, we explore, analyze, and share past #GlobalSouth #SocialEcologicalSystems using three core themes (paleoecology, paleoclimatology, & archaeology) that drive the synthesis of ideas as well as datasets. (5/n)

#pSESYNTH project (2021-2025) offers hands-on opportunities for developing region-specific subgroups (the Americas, Asia-Africa & Australasia-Oceania) to stimulate community-led research questions & syntheses of datasets at the intersection of climate, humans & environment. (6/n)

Through as many as 64 records in #pSESYNTH database so far, the topics of common interest within & across the #GlobalSouth find direct links to identifying historical baselines to constrain scenarios toward practical strategies for sustainable management of the landscapes. (7/n)

Energing out of #pSESYNTH, a functional #Holocene database will comprise the curated sets of #interdisciplinary case studies from the #GlobalSouth, aimed at providing reference data to foster collaborations among paleoscientists in this #underrepresented region. (8/n)

In the upcoming years, #pSESYNTH activities will continue to cross-fertilize knowledge & methods, utilizing @INQUA @INQUAHabComm support, all oriented towards enhancing paleoscientific research, collaboration and application in the #GlobalSouth. (9/n)
