Dr. Mukesh Sharma @IITKanpur gave an overview of considerations and questions in the NAAQS revision process.
He also highlighted that there is a need for broad engagement across stakeholder groups to ensure that all aspects are considered and different viewpoints are heard.
The team is reviewing available health evidence, analyzing #AirQuality data and considering questions linked to criteria pollutants as well as hazardous air pollutants.
Robert O’Keefe @HEIresearch gave an overview of #AirQuality standards review process in the US & EU.
He emphasized that the experience in the US has shown that #CleanAir actions can bring public health benefits & that clean air and a healthier economy can go together.
Uma Rajarathnam gave an overview of the @WHO Air Quality Guidelines. The guidelines were updated in 2021.
She highlights that the Guidelines can be used as an evidence-based reference as countries set their legally binding #AirQuality standards.

Dr. Ambuj Roy, @aiims_newdelhi - Cardiovascular 🫀 disease is a key risk for morbidities & deaths due to #AirPollution.
Based on NFHS data, Dr. Roy & colleagues inc. @somagnik found that there was 15% ⬆️ risk of hypertension when exposed to high levels of biomass exposure.
