Politics typically boils down to a choice between two tough options - perhaps two awful options. We all sort of know this, but at some point this concept becomes a hot reality. In 2021, I supported #NoMore &
viewed sanctions as borderline betrayal to the homeland. I viewed the west as being permanently fixated on installing TPLF, specifically, in order to destabilize the HOA region for one reason or another. I viewed changing the narrative in the west to be virtually impossible.
But since then, I've seen the deterioration of the nation under @AbiyAhmedAli 's growing dictatorship. I've seen the mounting evidence that his government, in concert with Gov. @ShimelisAbdisa's & Mayr @AdanechAbiebie's respective administrations, is highly likely behind the
massacres & atrocities happening to civilians inside Oromia. I've seen the continued #AmharaGenocide, the sharp rise in the ethnic cleansing of non-Oromos from Oromia, the legitimization of ahistorical claims in order to commit violence & annex land to Oromia, the cover-up of the
Borena famine victims, arbitrary arrests & kidnappings, an unequal enforcement of the law, & the wars on the #Orthodox Church & Muslim population, all happening. Even looking back at the war with TPLF, I fully blame [Abiy's] gov't for permitting the war to extend into the Amhara
& Afar regions multiple times, causing all of that death, suffering, destruction, & trauma, then topping it all off by awarding the TPLF leadership.

Millions have died from violence, millions more have been internally displaced, tens-of-thousands have been evicted from the only
home they know, with no end in sight to this horror-show!

For me, it has come down to either permitting this monstrous Abiy Administration to go on eviscerating the social fabric & well being of the society; or to look at any other meaningful option to combat it with. The choice
between two awful options. There's no shame in seeking internationalist solutions against a government committed to the destruction of its citizens. There's no shame in admitting that we were collectively duped by Abiy Ahmed into thinking that he was a unifier, when in reality
he's a sociopath with a messianic complex hell-bent on achieving absolute power at the cost of mass depopulation. Our generation needs to save internationalism from its diminished reputation over the past 50-years; for without it, the poorest & most vulnerable people on the earth
will be left with no recourse but to face death & misery themselves.
