Only a few weeks ago the Government lost a vote in the Lords on the Public Order Bill to change the interpretation of “serious disruption” of other people’s day-to-day activities to mean “anything less than minor”.
The Lords opposed this change by 254 votes to 240.
Our increasingly illiberal government are now trying to reinsert this change via secondary legislation which has less Parliamentary scrutiny and can’t be amended in any way.
Baroness @GreenJennyJones has tabled a fatal motion to stop their proposal from becoming law.
If the Lords vote on this Fatal Motion on Tuesday 13th June is lost, then it allows Ministers, for the first time in British history, to overturn a parliamentary vote against a new law.
This illiberal, antidemocratic, authoritarian & indeed anti-British act must be stopped. 🇬🇧
It sets a precedent where a government can lose votes in Parliament, when trying to pass legislation, then simply have the same laws waved through as regulations.
It undermines the whole system of parliamentary democracy and allows government by diktat.
So @UKLabour needs to find its spine & work with the other opposition parties to stop this legislation in its tracks. They have put a motion of regret, which opposes the Govt proposal, but doesn't change anything.
The government falsely claims this new law is about #JustStopOil.
In truth the changes will hurt *anyone* who ever wants to organise a protest or assembly - *anyone* from Friends of the Earth to local people raising an issue outside a council meeting.
In effect, it allows the police & home office to decide what is a 'good' or 'bad' protest.

For 30 years, grotesque Brextremist billionaire Tory donor Crispin Odey has reigned over London’s hedge fund scene. He was briefly married to Murdoch's eldest daughter. 13 women have accused him of harassment, abuse & fostering a toxic workplace.
Odey Asset Management, his firm, was once one of Europe’s largest hedge fund companies and Odey, the man, a character from a bygone era of finance. An imposing figure at over 6ft tall, he cultivated an image as an unapologetically posh gentleman rebel.
He used his wealth & influence to boost the Conservative party, back Brexit & cultivate a friendship with Boris Johnson.
Although Odey’s assets under management have fallen from their $13.3bn peak, he's maintained his reputation as one of London’s last hedge fund mavericks.
In case you missed this Telegraph review of Roger Waters performing in Birmingham, UK, on 31st May, which followed his shows in Frankfurt (28th May) & Berlin (17th & 18th May) - the US State Dept denounced the Berlin shows as "deeply offensive to Jewish people".
Roger Waters opened his British tour with an emotional 10 minute rant about his mistreatment in Germany, how good it was to be back in Britain but how upset he was about a recent “hatchet job” in the “fucking Telegraph”...
and how this paper (and “the Times of London” in fairness) had come to his Birmingham Arena concert just to “rip my balls off.”
Anti-Net Zero pub bore Richard Tice, who spends his life scaremongering about asylum seekers, attacks the @BBC (but not the Mail) for accurately reporting a Govt press release aiming to prevent the deaths of vulnerable older people, which he dismisses as "scaremongering garbage".
Here's Richard Tice's fellow attention-seeking shit-stirring fuck-the-vulnerable TalkTV presenter, Julia Heartless-Brewer. Funny how TV channels owned or funded by free-market Tory-supporting anti-Net Zero overseas-based billionaires don't give a fuck about older British people.
The billionaire-owned Tory-supporting free-market anti-Net Zero Telegraph suggests warning vulnerable older people - like most of its readers - to wear a sun hat is the NANNY STATE GONE MAD!
It's like Tice, Brewer, Barclay & Murdoch would prefer it if we'd just let over 65s die.
Many available studies have investigated the merits and demerits of social media using discourse analysis, which involves a single theoretical perspective.
This book is designed to address daily life violent speech from various countries on social media using interviews and comprehensive frameworks of public discourse, contrasting transmission and ritual models of communication & power geometries.
On 30th May, the toxic & despicable non-dom billionaire-owned Tory Government-supporting Telegraph published an extremely misleading article about the support of the Paul Hamlyn Foundation (an independent charitable funder) to the UK’s migration sector.
The Paul Hamlyn Foundation responded with a statement.
Please share it so people can better understand how the toxic billionaire-owned press misleads its readers & demonises those it disagrees with. 🙏
"The Paul Hamlyn Foundation is an independent charitable funder; this means we use resources from the endowment left by our founder towards our vision of a just society where everyone, especially young people, can realise their full potential & enjoy fulfilling & creative lives."
“I’m sorry, but I don’t want to be an emperor. That’s not my business. I don’t want to rule or conquer anyone. I should like to help everyone – if possible – Jew, Gentile – black man – white.
We all want to help one another. Human beings are like that. We want to live by each other’s happiness – not by each other’s misery. We don’t want to hate and despise one another. In this world, there is room for everyone. And the good earth is rich and can provide for everyone.
The way of life can be free & beautiful, but we have lost the way.
Greed has poisoned men’s souls, has barricaded the world with hate, has goose-stepped us into misery and bloodshed.
