A thread on #DRFC early start to the window and what I feel is needed to return to League One. (๐งต)
After relegation to L2 in 2022 they had another very poor season last year finishing 18th and not ever putting a run of games together.
I think they big thing I struggled to see was what direction the club was heading in and what sort of team they was. They wasnโt necessarily a possession based team and they lacked the quality to be a counter attacking team, so I did struggle to see what way the club was going.
For Doncaster to progress as a football club something had to change at the club, they had to identify a philosophy and recruitment had to be so much better than last season
Early doors they brought Grant McCann in, already showing the ambition to have a real style of play and a man who knows what players he wants and who works in what way.
League Two is already shaping up to be a very difficult division with so many teams expecting to be in and around the play offs. Getting the recruitment right early on was exactly what Doncaster needed to do and exactly what Doncaster have done
Thatโs eight signings already, a mixture of youth and experience but all share hunger and qualities that McCann admires.
๐๐ผ๐ฒ ๐๐ฟ๐ผ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ฑ๐ฒ who has played in a struggling Cambridge side in L1 over the last 2 seasons also getting 20 goals all together is impressive considering.
I have no doubts he will score goals in League Two and provide McCann an alternative option up front, depth is key next season and Iโll discuss that later in the thread.
๐ฅ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ต๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฑ ๐ช๐ผ๐ผ๐ฑ he may be a veteran defender at 37 but his leadership qualities will certainly be appreciated. He featured in 28 championship games last season so dropping down to L2 certainly wonโt be an issue for him.
๐๐ฎ๐บ๐ถ๐ฒ ๐ฆ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฟ๐ may have suffered relegation with Hartlepool but he certainly showed when he did play heโs more than capable at playing at L2 level.
๐๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ธ ๐ฆ๐ฒ๐ป๐ถ๐ผ๐ฟ obviously a lot of biased here, but I have no doubt he will become a fan favourite.
His technical ability was far too good for NL and his passion, dedication and work rate is honestly one of the most impressive Iโve seen, and his attitude to slot intoโฆ twitter.com/i/web/status/1โฆ
๐๐ฎ๐ป ๐๐ฎ๐๐น๐ผ๐ฟ a signing which isnโt actually unknown as heโs played a lot of games for #DRFC it provides good completion and he will be fighting for number one.
๐ข๐๐ฒ๐ป ๐๐ฎ๐ถ๐น๐ฒ๐ another exciting signing, versatility will be key throughout the season, his ability to operate in the centre of midfield and in the defence is vital.
๐๐ฒ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ด๐ฒ ๐๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ป๐ the NL signings have impressed me the most, because theyโre all so excellent. His late bursts into the box which often leaves him the free man will get him numerous goals next season and his high energy and determination will be another favourite.
๐ง๐๐น๐ผ๐ฟ ๐ฅ๐ผ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ a young prospect rated very highly at Wolves, is best on either wing. I did expect a League One loan, so for #DRFC to pull it off Iโm excited to see how he settles in.
Now thatโs the signings so far, what do I thinks needed next, and where do I think #DRFC could finish
In terms of new signings, I do believe it would be for depth more than anything, Iโve been that impressed so far I donโt believe many more are needed, however I know McCann will be keeping tabs on youngsters.
So I will go through a couple of players I believe would fit the McCann system and would make sense.
๐ช๐ถ๐ป๐ด๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ป๐ ๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ป๐ has recently been released by Huddersfield after a loan spell at Harrogate. Although his stats arenโt impressive at Harrogate - after watching him for a while I believe he would suit a 4-2-3-1.
๐ฆ๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐ธ๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐บ ๐๐๐ฟ๐ป๐ a 20 year old striker recently released from Blackburn. Had some good season in the U23 PL and I like his play style.
Wouldnโt be the first choice striker but would develop under McCann into what I believe could be a first choice striker.
๐ง๐๐น๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐ฑ๐ป๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐๐ a very good ball playing CB, who i believe could play L1 and if Doncaster were to pull this off would be a massive signing. He scored 8 goals in the NL last season from CB and possesses a lot of traits that make a brilliant modern day CB.
Now Doncaster have a manager who knows what he wants player wise and football wise and his demands will transfer on to the pitch I think theyโll have a positive season.
Thereโs still a while till it starts with the transfer window still yet to be utilised by every club.
I do believe this will be the toughest L2 in a while so if you are to progress to L1 you will have to be more consistent than ever.
For now I have Doncaster targeting the top three, that could change - but everything from the manager to the early recruitment shows me #DRFC are a team who will be there or theyโre about next season.
Thanks for the read.

The experienced CB who has just suffered relegation with Rochdale is looking for a new club and i think #YCFC would welcome his arrival, heโs a good no nonsense defender and has experience across L1 and L2.
Notts County a look into what else they need this window to become genuine title contenders (๐งต) #ncfc#nottscounty
First of all, the system Luke Williams played last season and tactical approach he took is probably the most in depth tactical approach Iโve ever seen in the National League.
Williams demands his goalkeeper to be comfortable and confident on the ball, itโs the way he plays - playing out from the back was almost unheard of at NL level but it was a demand Williams had.
An in depth thread of Burton Albion and 11 players I think they should sign. They need a big summer and below is how I think they could. (๐งต) #bafc#Burton
Burton Albion currently only have eight players under contract although they have offered new deals to a further eight players.
So with none of them currently confirmed and 3/8 players playing the same/similar position, I am going to go through 11 possible signings I think would suit Burton Albion and help them kick on next season.
A very good young goalkeeper who I think needs to play in a system that suits him, and I think what Evatt demands of his goalkeeper would bring the best out of Savin.
Now released by #MUFC and looking to shine elsewhere itโs another player I believe fits Evatts system well, he is comfortable on the ball and can also carry out of defence
A thread on 15 signings I feel would be a good fit for Morecambe - with only six players currently at the club, I did 15 more potential signings - in my opinion my best thread(๐งต) #morecambe#mfc#shrimps
After speaking and taking a deeper dive into Morecambe FC and seeing that Morecambe currently only have six players registered for the upcoming season means theyโll need at-least 15 signings in the next couple of months.

I did a smaller thread with five players and Iโm going to add a further 15 players who I think Morecambe could/should sign - itโs a mixture of experience and youth but I canโt help but feel this isnโt a healthy way of running a club
A player who can operate in numerous positions providing cover across multiple positions is what McCann has signed, similar to a couple of signings now, certainly not a coincidence.
Positions
Coming through the ranks at Newcastle he operated mostly as a midfielder and by the looks of the multiple posts and quotes Iโve seen McCann sees him primarily as a midfielder.
However throughout the season at Gateshead he slotted into CB and performed the position toโฆ twitter.com/i/web/status/1โฆ
