The @cologop purge continues. Email blasts, formal reprimands, now a warning from Chair @RepDaveWilliams’ right-hand man, @realWestonImer, a 19-yr-old fmr intern for Rep Boebert. “KARMA IS A BITCH!” Imer wrote. “Every single liar in this party will get theirs, don’t even worry.”
Imer describes himself as the Colorado GOP’s project manager. The party is so cash-poor it does not have any paid employees.
Yesterday, @RogerHudsonCO, the deputy chief of staff for the Colorado House GOP, said the party was bankrupt and losing its office space. The party denied that and accused Hudson of “supporting the mitigation and chemical castration of kids.”
As the Colorado GOP struggles to raise money, it plans to pay John Eastman, architect of the Trump plan to overturn the 2020 election, to pursue a legal challenge to bar unaffiliated voters from
the GOP primary. But Eastman may lose his law license first. nbcnews.com/politics/2020-…
There’s a separate push by a far right faction to opt the Colorado GOP out of the primary process and have its candidates selected by a relatively small number of party insiders. coloradosun.com/2023/07/10/col…
Chair Dave Williams has enlisted the Colorado Libertarian Party to give weight to his ideological purity tests for candidates. A pact with the Libertarians says they won’t run a candidate in races where the GOP nominates a sufficiently “pro-Liberty” candidate.
Williams has weaponized the state Republican party against one Republican in particular: @RepDLamborn, who defeated Williams in a 2022 primary after a judge ruled Williams could not appear on the ballot as Dave “Let’s Go Brandon” Williams.
Today, the Colorado Log Cabin Republicans said a @cologop email blast entitled “Pride is evil” showing the words PRIDE MONTH morphing into DEMON was “narrow minded and pandered to the far right.” logcabincolorado.org/statement_on_p…
The state GOP followed up the PRIDE MONTH -> DEMON email with a claim that the chairman of the Colorado Democratic Party is a groomer.
The Colorado GOP couldn’t find traction in the center or the far right in 2022. @ODeaForColorado painted himself as a centrist and lost the US Senate race by 13%. @heidiganahl ran on culture war grievance and fantasy (ie furries taking over schools) and lost by almost 20%.
Remember, GOP chair Dave Williams won his race when Colorado’s best known election denier, Tina Peters, dropped out and endorsed him. He offered her a job with the party handling election integrity.
Dick Wadhams, the former state GOP chair who ran the campaign of Colorado’s only Republican governor in the last 50 years, is warning against the direction of the party. The @cologop called Wadhams “a bitter old man.” gazette.com/opinion/column…
Bottom line: Colorado Republicans, at their low point electorally since pre-WWII, have leaned hard into Trump-style politics in a purple-trending-blue state that went for Clinton +5 in 2016 and Biden +13 in 2020.
It hasn’t been 24 hours and the @cologop’s circular firing squad has another Republican in its sights: @SenKirkmeyer, who narrowly lost the CO-8 House race in 2022. Kirkmeyer lost the Biden +4.7 district by 1.7.

NEW: No Labels' polling found its third party candidate would hurt Biden and help Trump. No Labels co-founder Holly Page denied what the polling showed then told me "it really doesn't matter."
No Labels boosted Republican Cory Gardner against Democratic Sen Mark Udall in 2014 by providing its Problem Solvers Seal of Approval, help with get-out-the-vote efforts, and spending from its PAC. But No Labels co-founder said today that they didn't back Gardner in 2014.
No Labels stood by its decision to label Donald Trump as a "Problem Solver" in 2016. "We had an event, everybody who came to the event got the seal," co-founder Holly Page said. "He solved some problems. And he didn't solve others. Just like every other politician in Washington."
His name is Drew. He’s a stranger. And he’s the only reason I finished my first half marathon. Felt great until Mile 8, when my calf cramped and seized up so badly I had to hop to the curb. I don’t have any running experience, so I had no real idea what to do. #runcolfax (1/4)
I’d just passed a great sign on the route. I spent a couple minutes stretching and massaging the cramp but had trouble putting weight on it. Drew ran up and called to me. “Let’s go! Let’s get going!” I limped along as we talked and before I knew it, I was running again. (2/4)
Without the kindness of this stranger, I’m not sure if I would have known I could push on - I wouldn’t have made it alongside him up the hill onto 17th - I wouldn’t have run by my daughters cheering at Mile 12 - and I wouldn’t have finished. Drew saved my day. (3/4)
NEW: Authorities say a body has been found near the vehicle of the East High School shooting suspect, Austin Lyle, in Park County. They have not confirmed whether the body is Lyle's. Residents are no longer being told to stay indoors.
"They should be relieved that we came up here and solved the problem," said Park County Sheriff Tom McGraw. "Be comfortable and know that everything is closed up now."
The Sheriff did not elaborate on whether law enforcement engaged the suspect directly at any point.
THREAD: The Denver School Board voted unanimously in the summer of 2020 to remove 18 Denver Police officers from its schools - and rely on its own safety officers instead. (1/4)
The decision came amid social justice protests - and was based on data showing the vast majority of students ticketed and arrested were Black and Latino students between the ages of 10 and 15. Progressives on the board cited a concern about the 'school to prison pipeline.' (2/4)
The school district has about 20 armed patrol officers who go campus to campus but aren't assigned to specific schools. Those officers are licensed security - not sworn police - so they must call Denver Police to make an arrest or to deal with a serious crime in progress. (3/4)
NEW: Denver @MayorHancock says a male East High student who was under an "agreement" to be patted down shot two staff members. Livestream of a news conference here: 9news.com/watch
@MayorHancock DPD Chief Ron Thomas says both of the staff members who are shot are men. One is in surgery in critical condition. The other is in serious condition.
Chief Thomas says police have identified the shooting suspect but he has not been found.
@AndyforDenver@GeorgeBrauchler@710KNUS Rougeot's litany of false claims ranged from obvious falsehoods about other candidates in the race to instances where he appeared genuinely confused about city issues and policies.
@AndyforDenver claimed he’s the “only candidate with actual business experience.” Not true. @KwameSpearman is the CEO of @TatteredCover. @KellyBroughDen ran the @DenChamber. Thomas Wolf is an investment banker. Aurelio Martinez ran a restaurant. Robert Treta is a developer.
