Earlier than usual, Courtroom A is up and LIVE on Zoom from the State Bar Court of California! "The Court is in Recess" slide is up. Yesterday, tech problems delayed the trial nearly 90 minutes, so imagine the team was working to make sure it was fixed. We haven't started yet.

RB: Final vote totals from state elections (SoS), counts for candidates (types like mail-in), totals... batch files of time series contains timestamps.

Rachel Alexander, who more than deserved the smackdown about being SUSPENDED from the AZ Bar and having to take ETHICS CLASSES, is seething. Hey @rach_ic, maybe if you weren't a nasty hack who coaches witnesses by knowing they're reading, no problems.

🥳 And we're back with Dr. Stanley Young, goes by the name "Stan". Randy Miller starts direct for John Eastman. Starts with college, small college then NC biological sciences, then Masters in statistics & genetics. (His accent is hard to understand, Miller & Judge hear feedback)

Worked for Eli Lilly starting in 1972. Statistician in toxicology, agriculture, more. PhD in 197(4? Miller cut him off) while at Lilly. Job title at end? SY: Don't recall. RM: What about stats? SY: Reports on tens of thousands of animals in toxicology...

SY formulated some software SAS (huge now). After Lilly, went to Glaxo 15 years (1987-2001). Title: Don't remember, stats advisor, "don't pay attention to that". Stats consultant in computer science dept, chemistry & biology & stats problems. RM: What stats data?

SY: Mostly chemistry, new molecules. RM: Data? SY: Large dataset problems. 2.5 columns, 250k rows in spreadsheets, developed methodology. RM: Left Glaxo for small thinktank, Nat'l Institute for Statistical Sciences, 8-10yrs.

Dr. Stan Young seems like a nice man, he worked on chemistry to help mankind. BUT again, this has ZERO to do with elections and his knowledge is from another era. Another unqualified witness for election subject matter. #EastmanTrial

No employment since 2005-2008. Helped some small companies. CG Stat is his company (2002-present, only employee) for getting grants, advice on datasets, etc. RM: Any election data? GY: NO IT HAS NOT.

Dr. Young is discussing educational roles, adjunct, working with graduate students, etc. The experience was quite a while ago. Judge recommends moving CV into evidence since he doesn't remember dates, it's not clear he's going to remember. RM won't, wasting time (again).

Finally Randall Miller, Eastman's lawyer, moves on with Dr. Stan Young. More background.
RM: Member of any pro organizations?
SY: Science AAAS, ASA (American Statistical Association), Fellow (since 1993ish) at both.
It's still not easy to hear Dr. Young.

Publishing: Book about resampling data (from same dataset). 3-4 chapters in books, 100 articles. RM: About stats? SY: Almost all. "I've worked on lots of problems". 3 patents on chemistry. A distinguished life, reminds me of my late Dad. He was buffaloed by election grifters.

Dr. Stan Young has never testified as an expert, nor was he ever qualified as an expert witness. Duncan Carling notes that in Contrast Report, he opines on election info. Carling wants to voir dire. Or Dr. Young shouldn't be able to discuss causal effects. Miller disagrees.

Judge discusses restriction of Dr. Young to stick to statistics (difference with elections, analysis or opinion) from his depo. Judge agrees he's qualified to testify as an expert in statistics.

#EastmanTrial: Randall Miller, direct examining Dr. Stan Young, at 5:40pm EDT finally gets to the Contrast Report which he authored. He says he 1st followed the 2020 election a few days after Election Day. Switching him to phone. NO TRIAL TOMORROW. Judge asks when he can be back.

Dr. Stan Young was contacted by John Droz ("he's an interesting guy"). Miller leads again, did you know the Election Integrity Group? SY: Didn't care about name, just the numbers. Droz thought election reports were suspect. #EastmanTrial

SY: I was happy to let somebody do the hard lifting of finding data, I was analyzing it. We were looking for voting data, then the question was how to look at complex mish-mash of data & we decided to look at 2016 vs. 2020. Judge: Source of data? SY: Public records. #EastmanTrial
