Random thoughts on the al Qassam footage from the IDF ground incursion in no particular order.
Firstly- Clear that the en mass production of the "Yassin" PG-7VR copy was a very sensible decision. This was the most achievable way for them for them to create a potent anti....
armour weapon, with good penetrative capabilities against IDF armour. Even more sensible was the adoption of the main warhead of the Yassin (Essentially the same as a PG-7L) as a static charge IED. That way, the same production line(s) could be efficiently used to boost..
..al Qassam et al anti-armour capabilities in a simple to use package. So far, this seems to have been effective, although the daring IED-placing rambo probably wasted his actions, as the directional charge wouldn't have gone in the right...direction.
Anyway, next.
Footage of the IDF armour in action without infantry support is both surprising and against what would be expected. However, I suspect that IDF are choosing to minimise troop casualties and relying on the very potent protection of Merkava, Namer, etc to keep the vehicles working.
in the same breadth, clear that the IDF have learned lessons. Cas, whilst unknown, do not appear to be maximal, and aQ attacks so far have not been catastrophic. We haven't yet seen incidents such as the catastrophic Iraqi push into Mosul's al-Salam Hospital in December 2016.
It's also clear that the IDF are willing to employ what one can describe in the most charitable terms as extremely heavy indirect fire and air support against al Qassam positions.
This has clearly led to major, major CIVCAS. These actons should be investigated...
...as at least a large amount of them appear to me to be violations of IHL.
Next, it is perhaps less than surprising that al Qassam/al Quds forces hitting IDF forces that are now deep within the stip still appear to auxillary, lightly armed fighters. I have..
..barely observed anything heavier than a RPG-7 and RPK in use, very few PK/M etc. Even IEDs seem to be uncommon. I suspect that higher tier units (Say, Nukhba et al) are being held back for the dense urban battle. The same can also be said, it seems, for ATGM and SPG...
even tho you would think the open spaces of the agricultural and resort areas of the strip currently occupied by the IDF would be ideal for attacks that can take advantage of a long LOS and elevated positions within the city itself. This is quite interesting- will save opinions.
It is also clear, speaking of battlefield innovations, that al Qassam UAVs can have enormous tactical use for the group during this battle. We have seen some grenade drop footage, and one presumes they have been used for ISR too, but...
...we haven't seen many downed yet, and barely any footage. Again, I believe that these are a limited resource and has been held back. These factors I have mentioned above are, I believe one of the reasons that the IDF has so far progressed rapidly.
I would expect that the armed factions in the strip will be relying on the excessive casualties that are almost guaranteed from operations in the very dense urban areas of the city, as well as taking advantage of tunnels, to deter the IDF entering. I personally think...
..that we may be surprised that IDF capabilites developed just for this area of ops may prove to be more effective than expected.
However- 0 of this matters if the IDF simply intend to cut off, besiege & starve factions out. This would mean tremendous civilian sufffering...
...and one that I hope doesn't occur.
Regardless of this all, whatever comes next will be utterly brutal for all concerned.

This is not *why* I am leaving all of this, but rather just some notes to whoever might find them useful.
Why does someone do the stuff I have? Why does someone write thousands of words and spend so many hours?
It's because yes, you enjoy it, but it makes you feel like you are making a positive difference. But then it starts feeling like a job, a job that gives you no earnings.
Then you find that dozens, if not hundreds, of organisations, companies, large (evidently revenue earning) accounts, YouTubers etc, are very, very happy to use your expertise and your time, and *will not* compensate you for it. Sometimes you get credit, which is nice.
Something I didn't say in November that I think now- this stuff has a deeply personal tinge. The Ukrainians are targeting people because they see them as guilty of assisting in their (attempted) genocide. This is Mossad in the 60s, and they are only just starting.
Sensible people in European security circles should be thinking about how to manage and mitigate a service absolutely willing to go kinetic on their soil in five or ten years when some of the Russian men who were Bucha or Mariupol manage to get to Germany etc
So much analysis of this misses the personal factor.
Why wouldn't you target the people who wanted to turn you into a literal footnote of history?
#Syria: ISIS forces in Syria also released a quantity of bay'ah picss for the new Caliph. I'm not sure where this cell is, thinking perhaps rural NES. M16A4, AK variants (AKM, T56, Including AKS-74U, ofc), PK (W/ MG-1M barrel), RPG-7 with PG-7VM.
Note high proportion of minors.
A Badia cell. This is a "proper" cell, with all fully grown men. M16A4 with ATN Thermal optics, SVD Dragunov, AKM and AK-74(M) variants (With PK-01VS), PG-7VL.
These guys have the traditional cell arrangement and look healthy. Also, a foreigner🤌
Another serious Badia grouping, including with technical with ZU-23-2 23mm autocannon. Standard AK-(S)74(M)/AKM/PK/M16A4 mix, along with SVD as usual. Interesting customised AK-74 with PK-01VS again.
#Iraq: The third nay'ah to the new caliph of IS, from IS in Iraq: another considerable photoset. Precise areas (Diyala, Kirkuk, etc) are not revealed, though I have suspicions.
Standard mix of AK variants, M4 Carbine, M16A2/A4, and uncommonly seen Vz. 58 V here. A rural cell.
Another very rural group, I suspect from #Kirkuk. Again no RPG but a collection of common (AK/M16) rifles, plus locally procured AR-15, captured (or sold) ex Iraqi Army Remington R4 and ex Federal Police VHS-D2 bullpups.
Oh, and an AKS-74U. High status cell?
Another cell. If I was to guess, these are some of the guys who have been (attempting...) raids in Kirkuk recently and undertaking highway harassment. First look at PG-7V, plus more wrapped M16A4, PKM (w/ MG-1M barrel), M4. They're hiding some TWS🤌
#DRC: #ISIS released a video covering the activities/development of the groups' Congo Branch (of IS Central Africa). Will note a few interesting weapons and other aspects here.
Please note: much of the footage was previously seen- so not loads to note. Curious W85 action though.
- Rare Command Arms XRS47 (...style) rail system with a commander.
- Lots of hip fired HMG action, seems to be usually W85 captured from the Army locally. Quite ineffective, but I guess it gets through the jungle foliage...
- Drone use- this time after (& during...?) an assault.
I hope you noticed the FN FNC in the post above. We see these a couple of times- wondering if we are starting to see a new regional status weapon? Oh, and a Type 81(-1). Both are used by the Armed forces locally, likely captured. Quite a bit of disorganised infantry assaults.
