And yes, this is re: DF. His past work is racist, used blood quantum to argue why he should be “allowed” to write indigenous content, CONSTANTLY speaks over POC who call him out, manufactures discourse to drive sales, and has been “learning and growing” for YEARS.

DF has been central to SO MUCH discourse, blocks anyone who calls him out only to unblock and issue halfhearted apologies about how he’ll do better— yet the cycle continues. I am honestly surprised, given my own positive interactions with @GehennaGaming, that they’d hire him.

I’ve been debating whether or not to say anything specifically naming the project he’s on, but this KS has 14 days left and isn’t even halfway funded— and I know that many folks who might otherwise would have backed this who didn’t BECAUSE he’s named as a writer.

If you want receipts I got ‘em. Why would I, or anyone, trust someone who wrote THIS, to write on this new game?

I think he does align with being part-indigenous but like I said, using blood quantum to "prove" your heritage as a Native person isn't widely accepted (and is problematic).

DF used to work for Andrews McMeel Publishing, where under his leadership he signed a publishing deal with Sw*rdsf@ll for his game (which still hasn't come out yet. lol.)

@DaneAsmund also, (again willing to be corrected) but from what I know, indigenous folks don't use blood quantum to 'count' someone— it's more about one's connection to the culture // if a person has been 'claimed' by any tribe/is registered at all

I’ve asked (in my responses to both) if GG will be updating their hiring process to include any kind of due diligence that would have prevented DF’s hiring in the first place. Because this could have and SHOULD have been prevented.

It is day once again so I’m preemptively locking this thread bc DF’s fanbase consists of all the right wingers (which, for a guy who publicly aligns w “liberals” but whose fans are otherwise says A LOT) and they might get angry enough to harass me (wouldn’t be the first time)
