A short 🧵 on How not to complain — and how to be heard effectively based on 15 year learnigns from @MoneylifeF :Most people ruin their own case when raising complaints. If you want your issue resolved, avoid these common mistakes. Here’s a guide based on years of advocacy experience. 👇

1⃣ Learn the process before you complain
Don’t shoot off angry emails without checking rules.
🟢 For stock markets: Use @SEBI_India's SCORES → scores.gov.in
🟢 For banks: Complain to the bank FIRST (details are on every bank website).
🟢 Wait 30 days before escalating to @RBI’s ombudsman: cms.rbi.org.in
🟢 For insurance: Use the IRDAI's grievance system: policyholder.gov.in

@SEBI_India 2⃣ State your issue clearly – right at the top
Don’t bury your main point in emotion or endless detail.
✅ What's the problem?
✅ What are you expecting?
This helps the recipient understand and act faster.

@SEBI_India 3⃣ Don’t dump a thread of past emails
Sending 20 forwarded emails as “proof” only confuses things.
Instead:
📝 Summarise the chain
📌 Bullet key points
🧾 Reference documents (without dumping them all)

@SEBI_India 4⃣ Send documents only when asked or summarised
Don’t attach 10MB PDFs in your first email.
🔍 Mention: “Supporting docs available on request”
🔢 If you must send them, add a short note:
“Attached: 1) Policy copy, 2) Email trail, 3) KYC” etc.

@SEBI_India 5⃣ Don’t forget essential details
It’s shocking how many people forget:
📍 City & branch
🆔 Customer/account number
📞 Contact number
👤 Your full name
No one can help you without these basics.

@SEBI_India 6⃣ Stop tagging 30+ people — it doesn’t help
Tagging half the government + media + every activist =
❌ Zero response
Everyone assumes someone else will act. No one does.

@SEBI_India 7⃣ Don’t expect instant help from NGOs like @moneylifefoundation
We exist to help — but not by magic.

8⃣ Ranting ≠ resolution
Yes, the system may be broken -- it is mostly true .
Yes, you're angry and correctly so.
But you're also asking for help and need a resolution.
🙏 Be firm, polite and focused - to authorities.
💡 Vent to friends, not in your formal complaint and shed the attitude of entitlement when you approach someone for help!
