On 3 June, Jolyon Maugham KC and his @GoodLawProject launched a crowdfunder in support of their intervention in the High Court, where the @EHRC's landlord was - later that same day - seeking an injunction against protests outside the EHRC's office by Trans Kids Deserve Better. 🧵
Somewhat unusually, the crowdfunder was launched on @CrowdJustice, rather than on the GLP's own website (as has been the norm for several years now).

And the first donor was 'Jo', as Jolyon Toby Dennis Maugham KC sometimes styles himself. 🤔 2/n Image
Later that day, with the crowdfunder having reached just £701 from 12 pledges (including a £500 pledge by 'Val'), the GLP announced that the High Court had dismissed the landlord's injunction application.

In actual fact, the GLP's intervention did not influence the judgment. 3/n Image
The GLP said they would keep the crowdfunder open 'in case there is an appeal [by the landlord]', and by the morning of 5 June it had reached £805 from 17 pledges.

Then, later that day, a single pledge of £14,975 took the crowdfunder past its £15K target, to £15,780. 👀 4/n Image
Strangely, this £14,975 pledge - made *after* the case had been resolved - did not appear in the list of 'recent contributions' before, with 'Jon' having made the 19th and last pledge (of £50), the GLP closed the crowdfunder on 7 June.

So, *who* donated the £14,975? And why? 5/n Image
Well, on Friday, the famously photogenic Patsy Stevenson breathlessly announced that, as she hadn't needed to use the £ that "thousands of you contributed" to cover Patsy's potential legal costs in 2021, she had "reallocated the funds" to the GLP's @crowdjustice crowdfunder. 6/n Image
In fact, back in 2021, only 818 people - not "thousands" - donated to Patsy's @crowdjustice crowdfunder. But the crowdfunder did raise a cool £18,592.

Which is £2,762 more than the grant total of £15,830 received by the GLP crowdfunder, from 19 pledges. 🤔 7/n Image
Furthermore, £18,592 is £3,617 more than the £14,975 anonymous (and unlisted under 'recent contributions) sum received by the GLP's @crowdjustice crowdfunder on 5 June.

Yesterday, however, Patsy insisted that *all* £18,592 was reallocated from her crowdfunder, to the GLP's. 8/n Image
So, did @crowdjustice charge a fee for reallocating Patsy's £ to the GLP's crowdfunder?

Or is the £14,975 received by the GLP crowdfunder on 5 June nothing to do with Patsy? In which case the crowdfunder received £15,830 + £18,592 = £34,422

Wanna clarify, @GoodLawProject? 9/9 Image
What about you, @crowdjustice? You reallocated the £ from Patsy Stevenson's 2021 crowdfunder to the GLP's crowdfunder.

When did Ms Stevenson make her reallocation request?

How much did you reallocate to the GLP's crowdfunder?

And on what date was the £ transferred? 10/n
And what about you, @AdamWagner1 & @siva_shanthi @gardencourtlaw - were you aware that your fees for acting for the GLP in court were (part) funded by the £ donated to Patsy Stevenson's crowdfunder in 2021?

And, if you were aware, did you not have any qualms about that? 11/n Image
Hmm. Patsy has now deleted this post from yesterday, in which she claims that the grand total of £15,830 received by the GLP's @CrowdJustice crowdfunder does *not* include the £ reallocated from her 2021 crowdfunder. Now, why would Patsy do that? 12/n

bsky.app/profile/patsys…Image
What about you @ITNSolicitors - were your three solicitors aware that their fees for acting for the GLP in this matter were (part) funded by the £ donated to Patsy Stevenson's crowdfunder in 2021?

And, if they were aware, did they not have any qualms about that? 13/n Image
Maybe you could throw some light on this matter, @rachelharger @BindmansLLP

You acted for Patsy Stevenson, and Bindmans is named on Patsy's 2021/22 crowdfunder, which raised £18,592.

Did Bindmans retain any of that £18,592? If so, how much did you retain? 14/n Image
In July 2022, @rachelharger @BindmansLLP, when named on Ms Stevenson's @CrowdJustice crowdfunder, you undertook legal work, including sending a pre-action protocol LBA to the Met.

Did you do that work pro bono, or did you retain some of the £18,592 to pay for that work? 15/n Image

And ... not content with one stunningly hypocritical data grab (see my 🧵 of 9 June, below), Angry Dad and his Good Law Project have now launched another one. 👀

A short 🧵 Image
As with the 'EHRC consultation' data grab launched by Angry Dad on Sunday, the GLP will receive a copy of the data of those who use the new tool to send an email to their local MP, about a mass lobby on 25 June organised by Trans Solidarity Alliance. Image
As users enter their postal address, the tool again warns - in the small print, obvs - that the GLP will forward your message and address details to your MP, but will also "collect your information and may use this to further develop [our] campaign". Image

It is now more than 12 months since Jolyon 'Angry Dad' Maugham KC and his (Not Very) Good Law Project were last able to celebrate one of their crowdfunders resulting in a positive outcome. 🧵 Image
The Good Law Project's Net Zero 2 crowdfunder was launched in July 2023. So it is 22 months since they last launched a successful crowdfunder.

In fact, the Net Zero 2 crowdfunder is the *only* successful GLP crowdfunder launched since 1 January 2023.
And the Net Zero 2 case wasn't exactly a glorious legal win for the GLP, as the one ground they argued in court - Ground 5 - was the only ground to be dismissed.

Grounds 1 to 4 were (successfully) argued by Friends of the Earth and ClientEarth:

What David Tennant said about Kemi Badenoch is clearly the main point.

But, for reasons I'll come to, I'm struck by something else: how the clip illustrates a turnabout in societal attitudes to the use of invasive medical surgery on children - all thanks to gender ideology. 🧵
Only two decades ago, my wife and I, and other parents, were labelled as 'child abusers' by the NSPCC, trade unions & activists for allowing the NHS to provide our profoundly deaf infants with a cochlear implant (CI) - a 'bionic' hearing system requiring serious cranial surgery.
Their 'case' was that our infants were too young to consent to such surgery, even though CIs could give them the opportunity to live in the mainstream hearing world, communicating orally.

So, they campaigned to stop the NHS providing CIs, and ostracised us as 'child abusers'.

The latest set of quarterly employment tribunal stats (Q2 of 2020/21) are out, and here's my quarterly graphic gift to @CasparQC

Given the ever-growing backlog (42,985 as of 22 Nov), we can expect mean age to increase further.

The latest set of weekly HMCTS management information (up to 22 Nov) was also released today, showing that new ET single claims/cases continue to outpace the ET system's recovery of capacity. So, the backlog continues to grow.

Here's that 42,895 backlog of ET single claims/cases (as of 22 November) in historical context. Unless the ET system can find some additional capacity, and fast, it seems likely to go much higher yet.

Sorry for the delay - got distracted by the day job. The first set of quarterly ET stats since the abolition of #ETfees in July are out, and here's a chart. 🤓 1/n
gov.uk/government/sta… #HR
In Q2 2017/18, there were 7,042 single claims/cases, and 429 multiple claimant cases. That's a 66% increase in single claims/cases, compared to the previous quarter, and a 62% increase on the same Q in 2016/17. 2/n #ukemplaw
HOWEVER (1/n): as Supreme Ct ruling on #ETfees was on 26 July, all the increase was in August & September (i.e. only 2/3 of the Quarter). So, there *might* be a further increase in Q3. 3/n #ukemplaw #HR
