I welcome the President’s submission to Congress of a blueprint to finally shutter the prison at Guantanamo Bay. #GTMO
Continued operation of #GTMO damages our 'intnl standing, provides propaganda tool for terror & costs 100s of millions of dollars each year.
We have a proven and effective alternative in our federal courts, which have consistently disposed of our most serious terrorism cases.
As report to Congress makes clear, to degree that a category of detainees are not suitable for prosecution and must continue to be held ...
...for duration of conflict under laws of war, our maximum security prisons or military facilities are more than capable of doing the job.
It's time for Congress to work with the Administration to put in place a legal regime that works – not block it at every turn. #GTMO
At very least Congress should get out of way & lift restrictions that make it difficult or impossible to close Guantanamo, once and for all.
Closing the #Guantanamo prison will make us safer, it will save us money, and it is the right thing to do.

It seems the President has developed a sudden concern for the homelessness crisis. I'm glad he wants to help.

Instead of floating nonsensical and possibly illegal concepts about rounding up people experiencing homelessness and warehousing them, here are some other suggestions:
One obvious place to start: stop making the problem worse by asking for billions in cuts to @HUDgov's affordable housing programs, and to safety net programs that can make the difference for families living on the edge.
Rather than launching partisan attacks on California cities, Trump could learn from leaders and community groups on the front lines of addressing homelessness.

In fact, Los Angeles recently approved the two largest anti-homelessness ballot measures in American history.

I just visited a shelter for separated children in California. The kids had a place to sleep, food to eat, a school to attend and medical care. Everything, but what they need — their parents.

We must reunite these families:

facebook.com/RepAdamSchiff/…
The shelter has 16 kids separated from their parents. Most had been in the facility for weeks. The parents of 2 of them had already been deported. HHS has identified all the parents, but 2 kids had yet to speak to their parent, because the detention centers are disorganized.
For children whose parents have been deported, the family can decide to seek to place the child with a relative in the U.S. or to have the child deported. But if placed with an undocumented relative, that child could face a second separation. It’s unconscionable.

Last year, the bipartisan leadership of the House Intel Committee made a promise to the American people to publicly release the Facebook advertisements used by the Kremlin-linked Internet Research Agency.

Today, the Minority is fulfilling that promise: democrats-intelligence.house.gov/facebook-ads/
Russia sought to weaponize social media to drive a wedge between Americans, and in an attempt to sway the 2016 election. They created fake accounts, pages and communities to push divisive online content and videos, and to mobilize real Americans.

Here's how:
Russia sought to divide us by our race, our country of origin, our religion, and our politics. They attempted to hijack legitimate events meant to do good – teaching self-defense, providing legal aid – as well as those events meant to widen a rift.

Here's just some examples:

Mr. President, to conclude there is “no evidence” of collusion, you must ignore Russia’s extensive efforts to help your campaign, the litany of communications between Russia & your campaign, & the massive effort to conceal these contacts. Here’s the truth: bit.ly/2r77gxB
We lay out some new facts:

1.) Russians sought to establish a secret back channel with Trump campaign through NRA in May 2016 according to an email from Paul Erickson to Rick Dearborn & Jeff Sessions. They sought to make “first contact” at the NRA convention. See the email here:
2.) Don Jr. had two calls with Emin Agalarov to pursue dirt Russians were promising as part of June 9, 2016 meeting. Sandwiched between these calls? A third call from a blocked number. We tried to subpoena call records to see if blocked number was Donald Trump, but Rs blocked us:

I’m increasingly worried Republicans will shut down the House Intelligence Committee investigation at the end of the month.

Here’s why:
Since March, our investigation has made important progress. We’ve interviewed numerous key witnesses behind closed doors, held public hearings, reviewed thousands of documents, identified new leads — all to understand and expose Russia's meddling and protect our democracy.
Yet, Republicans have scheduled no witnesses after next Friday and none in 2017. We have dozens of outstanding witnesses on key aspects of our investigation that they refuse to contact and many document requests they continue to sit on.

One year ago, @realDonaldTrump was elected President. Since then, he has repeatedly shown why he is the worst president in modern history.

Here's how:
Almost immediately after the election, the President-elect falsely claimed to have won the popular vote and said that millions of illegal immigrants voted.
In his first week of office, @POTUS signed the #MuslimBan, banning people from entering our country based on their faith.
