As we ramp up the pressure to end the fossil fuel era and #PowerUp renewable energy solutions, the fossil fuel industry and the institutions that prop it up will double down on dangerous distractions that allow them to continue with business as usual. One of these distractions is selling and buying ‘carbon credits’ on the ‘carbon market’. Basically, instead of actually lowering their emissions, companies are able to hit their net-zero targets because the carbon they have emitted has been 'offset' by something else.

The International Energy Agency’s annual World Energy Outlook 2021 (WEO2021) report is out today. Kudos to IEA for making it available free of charge this year (We hope they also do this for their energy data as well).
