Article 370 was inducted in the Indian Constitution following the 1947 war between India and Pakistan over Kashmir, engineered by the British Colonial rulers. Brilliant arguments put forward by senior advocate Rakesh Dwivedi before the Supreme Court bench headed by the Chief Justice of India, DY Chandrachud. This is a must watch to understand history, geopolitics and law.
2. The founding fathers and mothers of the Republic had a clear policy on India and Article 370 was a deviation from that policy. Deviations can never be permanent, senior Supreme Court advocate Rakesh Dwivedi argues eloquently.

My brother @TikooSahil_ while driving in his car met with an accident in Srinagar on July 2 morning. The accident with an unidentified vehicle was so bad that our car got smashed badly. 1/n Sahil and his PSO sitting next to him at the front, escaped narrowly because they were wearing seat belts. Sahil’s other PSO Nisar was not with them in the car at the time. 2/n

Last night jihadis across continents held a closed room Twitter Spaces discussion on their future strategy to perpetrate terrorist violence against Indian nationalist Muslims & security forces in Kashmir. Recorded proof below is in Kashmiri language & some in English. Thread 1/n An Islamist says India has figured out all the old strategies. So now it’s time for them to change the course. Advises it’s time to come to the streets in Kashmir, attack forces; create chaos, anarchy & terror in WINTERS so that Pakistan has enough cover fire to attack India. 2/n

1. In 1947, Pakistani Army & raiders massacred thousands of Hindus & Muslims in its attempt to invade Jammu & Kashmir (J&K).
2. It bifurcated the captured territory into Pak Occupied J&K (PoJK) and Gilgit Baltistan (GB). 3. In 1949, Pakistan brought more than 85% of PoJK land, strategically important for its connectivity with China & control of rivers.
4. ‘Kashmir Council’, created for PoJK, was dominated by Pakistani federal authorities vested with wide ranging powers .

Thread #GunjanSaxena
My initial schooling, kindergarten to seventh standard (80s), happened at an Army Public School in Kashmir. In the last 2 decades as a journalist, I got many opportunities to watch India’s defence forces, closely. I also like watching war movies. I watched #GunjanSaxenaTheKargilGirl on @netflix. Although all the actors have done a great job, the director/producer has subtly and sometimes even blatantly, converted it into a political project at many levels.

For most part of his life Syed Ali Shah Geelani was Pakistan's biggest champion & most vocal spokesman in Kashmir. But nullification of Article 370 by @PMOIndia changed everything. Pakistan's Army & ISI dumped Geelani since he was of no use to them. Today Geelani QUITS Hurriyat. So 90-yr-old Syed Ali Shah Geelani, at the fag end of his life, finally realizes the destruction he brought upon Kashmir in the last 30 years--got sons, brothers, fathers of common Kashmiris killed by terror groups for the sake of Pakistan Army. And what did he get? Sirf zalalat.

I’ve consistently written Kashmir has been abnormal for last 30 years. Never tried to project Kashmir as normal after August 5, 2019. Kashmir is a war zone & yet as per idiots, it should have no restrictions even as people were killed for trying to restore some normalcy in life. I travel in Kashmir without security even after I was attacked by a murderous stone-pelting mob in 2016. But some hate-mongers resent I stay in a safe hotel in Srinagar (since my home was burnt down by jihadis). I suppose they would like to see me killed like Shujaat Bukhari. 2

The Islamic missionary Tablighi Jamaat which has done everything to bring disrepute to itself in India by being the ‘super spreader’ of Covid19 contagion, can hardly claim that its reputation is being maligned by media. Follow @ians_india’s BATTLE against a Jamaat’s member here. Recent examples of #TablighiJamaat’s “glorious” reputation in India.

(A case has been registered against two members of Tablighi Jamaat for allegedly defecating in front of a room at a quarantine centre in Narela.)

In India, if you call out the wrongs of Muslims, you get branded as Right wing. If you focus on the wrongs of Hindus, you get the high seat as secular, liberal, Left & even intellectual. There is no other operational definition or connotation of Left and Right in this country.1/n So by default, ethnically cleansed Pandits from Kashmir, the victims of Pakistan sponsored Islamists, are Right wing.

It does not matter whether you as a displaced Kashmiri Pandit have been thoroughly secular, liberal and peaceful in both your words and actions. 2/n

If there is one film on #Kashmir that you must watch, it is documentary ‘Project Kashmir’ made 15 years ago by three American friends—Geeta Patel of Indian origin, Senain Kheshgi of Pakistani origin and Ross Kauffman, a Jewish Oscar winner. Why am I recommending it today? 1/n Not because ‘Project Kashmir’ followed my life along with journalist Muzamil Jaleel & activist Khurram Pervez in Kashmir but because it will show Bollywood how truth is different from fiction & how an objective like reconciliation cannot happen on the foundation of untruth. 2/n

In last 30 years, there hasn’t been a day when I didn’t think of lost home, childhood, family & our way of life in Kashmir. One chief minister & one media owner in Kashmir attempted to bribe me in exchange of shutting my mouth & not speaking the truth. I declined outright. 1/n No hesitation today as well. @VVCFilms please do not trivialize ethno-religious cleansing of Pandits in Kashmir by calling it a “little fallout” between Hindus & Muslims. 1990 was the 7th exodus of Pandits from Kashmir because of their historical religious persecution. 2/n

It is so unprofessional when other wire services, newspapers & magazines pick up your piece & give credit to someone else. Just because I haven't yet figured out how to share my articles for @ians_india doesn't mean you will not get called out for cheating. This is very uncool. @ians_india Dear @timesofindia @IndiaToday

This lecture by S Raghavan on Article 370 is not only intellectually dishonest but also a very selective reading of history. Actually his argument is straight out of AG Noorani’s tendentious exegeses published in Pakistani newspapers & in his books.
1/n Whole lecture is about ‘state of Kashmir’. Extremely unsettling when a scholar distorts facts. Kashmir is not a state. Jammu & Kashmir is a state. Kashmir was not a princely state, Jammu & Kashmir (including Ladakh) was. Kashmir did not accede to India; Jammu & Kashmir did. 2/n

Pakistan Army has been trying to invade Indian Kashmir by hook or crook for the last 70 years. Since 1947, when it managed to occupy a part of Jammu and Kashmir & Gilgit-Baltistan, it has tried three additional conventional wars and one protracted proxy/sub-conventional war.1/n Cross-border terror helped Pakistan to establish a small but highly disruptive constituency in Kashmir. With removal of all constitutional ambiguity about Kashmir’s integration with the rest of India, Pak Army’s hope that it can wrest Kashmir from India has gone for a toss. 2/n

Spent almost a month in Kashmir in two trips since August 5, 2019. On my return flight from Kashmir to Delhi today, chatted for an hour & half with two young Kashmiri Muslim men. They were from downtown, the traditional separatist belt & said they can’t talk freely in Kashmir.1/n They said anyone who talks peace gets labeled as Indian agent in Kashmir. One guy spoke about how he ensured implementation of Ujjwala scheme even during the last 45 days of “shutdown”! He said no one stopped him from running his business. He said Kashmir wants peace,normalcy.2/n

The kind of agitprop about “rape, torture, genocide” in #Kashmir that political activists have been running in India & Pakistan since Aug 5, 2019 is so similar to the propaganda that I used to read on the official websites of Hizbul Mujahideen & Lashkar-e-Taiba before 9/11.😐 Activists in India are championing the cause of human rights of terrorists, stone-pelters & rioters in Kashmir. The same activist brigade NEVER bothered to write or speak for those ordinary Kashmiris targeted by terrorists & their Over Ground Workers. #FakeHumanRightsActivism

Heartening to see lot of Indians fighting for the restoration of mobile & internet connectivity (civil liberties) in Kashmir. The government of India must concede to their demand on the condition that they will share the blame for any mob rioting & stone-pelting after restoration Shouldn't people rather go about their lives? Go to offices, shops, schools, cafeterias, dhabas, meet relatives, friends just as we all used to before phones & internet arrived. You know there is NO CURFEW in Kashmir. Exercise your RIGHT TO LIFE. Right to phone/4G will follow.

Some commentators are treating Kashmir as if it were a normal place like Washington DC or London or Chandigarh or Pune & now suddenly has turned abnormal because New Delhi invalidated Article 370. Fact: India has been fighting a war with Pakistan in Kashmir for last 30 years.1/n In the 30-year-long war with Pakistan, India lost thousands of its people, most of them being Kashmiri Muslims. Every leader in Kashmir who tried to reason with Pakistan was shot dead by ISI—Mirwaiz Farooq, Abdul Majid Dar, Abdul Gani Lone, Moulana Showkat, Shujaat Bukhari. 2/n
