On Day 197 of war in Sudan, a QUICK & DIRTY for those just joining:

- Began on April 15, 2023 between the Sudanese military (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), a militia-turned-legitimate force of the govt.

- Leaders: Burhan (SAF), Dagalo/Himedti (RSF)

#KeepEyesOnSudan - Both leaders were previously serving - essentially - as President (Burhan) and Vice President (Himedti) of Sudan.

- General consensus is they each wanted all the power for themselves, so they went from partners to enemies.

As we continue to discuss stories of "heroic rescue" of foreign nationals, I think this is a perfect time to examine the Q? of *who* gets to be a 'foreign national' worthy of rescue.

We've already established citizens of Sudanese origin = not it.

#KeepEyesOnSudan And it's not Ethiopian and Eritrean refugees and residents, because no one has even *mentioned* them since the beginning of this conflict.

Among the most vulnerable groups, traumatized and displaced by war twice-over. But it is as if they don't even exist.

Important info re: travel to Egypt

1. No passport? Don’t even think about traveling

2. 3 months left on your passport? They might let it slide (you need 6mo validity); anything below 3, you’re denied entry.

4. Visas for men age 16-49

5. Currently they are not issuing visas

6. Re: renewing passport, if they stamp it, you will go thru border, as long as all other docs are complete

Not to mention, your arbitrary (and gross) decision that “junkies and drunkards” don’t deserve protection or justice sets a dangerous precedent.

Today it’s them - tomorrow it’s gonna be you. You have a problem w/public intoxication?

a) there are (SUPPOSED TO BE) laws for that, and none of them include killing.

b) examine why you feel a way about their presence. Are you worried about health & safety of citizens, or just the “pristine” image of your revolution?
