Also, since they're long-lived perennials that *want* to grow into a 4-5' shrub, the bigger a pot you can give them, the happier they'll be. Keep em in a small pot & they end up wanting to give up. @xstitchyn426 @ezraklein So not only are they 4-5' tall shrubs, they also evolved in a Mediterranean climate, meaning they developed a deep, deep root structure to find water in a seasonally dry climate. Again, another argument for them wanting a big pot to be happy.

@JKSteinberger @MrMatthewTodd @EricHolthaus @ExtinctionR @BBC I think at 2C warming most areas will lose their hold on governance as we know it, because we will not be able to feed populations reliably in many areas.

1/ @JKSteinberger @MrMatthewTodd @EricHolthaus @ExtinctionR @BBC 2C already brings too many droughts, too many heat waves, too many fires, too many flood events, too many hurricanes, too many tornadoes, too many hail storms, too much expanded pest and plant/livestock disease range.

1/ @MrMatthewTodd @JKSteinberger @EricHolthaus @ExtinctionR @BBC There are tons of ppl who hv no area of expertise in life (I'm talking abt ppl like myself; ppl who've nvr "made" anything of themselves, probly don't do work that's particularly meaningful to them even if they like the ppl they work w &even if it provides for their families)
