Today I would like to tell you the story of my friend Tjun.

It is a tale of grit, perseverance and tenacity.

We met in 2011 on the mats at a Brazilian Jiujitsu gym.

He was a blue belt, and I was a white belt.

This is the nicest photo of us closest to 2011. To say that Tjun loves BJJ is to put it mildly.

This is a man who is OBSESSED.

He once dislocated his shoulder during sparring and told his wife he will still train tomorrow, but *without using his shoulder*.

I want to remind people that with @KKMPutrajaya increasing the amount and frequency of #COVID19 testing, the rise in daily cases is not to be panicked about.

More importantly, it does not mean the #MCO is not working.

(1/4) One of the functions of the MCO is to flatten the curve and stagger the cases so as to not overwhelm our healthcare resources.

Had the MCO not been in place, we could have easily had 1 week's worth of cases in 1 day. That's 1000+ in a day.

That would be disaster.

Malaysia has always had a problem with "listening to professionals", especially in the realm of Medicine. We rather listen to astrologists for a 'good date to give birth', traditional sinsehs to control our diabetes using herbs, and hysterical relatives on cancer cures.

(Thread) We rather listen to someone promising a "one-stop" solution to the complexities of healthcare. Much easier to eat a herb, root or drink hydrogen water than the more arduous route of eating responsibly, exercising regularly and avoiding smoking and alcohol.

I was speaking at a corporate launch. I cracked some jokes, and one in particular was how "diabetes and hypertension had no symptoms, so most sufferers were blissfully unaware until it's too late, like an MCA member."

(Thread) The crowd laughed, and then went, "OOOOOOoooooohhh..."

Years of doing comedy taught me that that sound meant only one thing : There was an MCA member in the audience.

"Is there an MCA member here?"
