“Common malaria” abi?
Did you know that if unchecked/poorly treated in pregnancy, it could lead to maternal anaemia, miscarriage, still birth, low birthweight, or ‘at best’ manifest as jaundice (yellow eyes/skin) at birth.
Same “ordinary malaria” kills a child every 2 minutes👇🏽
According to WHO, in 2020 alone 241 million new cases and 627,000 deaths from malaria were recorded globally.
70% of these deaths were among under-5 children in subsaharan Africa, like Nigeria.
Pandemics come and go, but the endemic malaria remains the deadliest infection ever.

“Congratulations o, natural or IVF?”
“Congratulations o, normal or CS?”
“Congratulations o, epidural or Hebrew woman?”
Resist the urge to be nosy and insensitive.
Say your congratulations or skip.
No one owes you their medical history, and if they share it’s a privilege.
Note: I advocate for people to share their health/survivor stories (fertility, cancer, NCDs). This sensitizes & encourages adoption of helpful medical procedures.
However, also remember that everyone has a right to when and whom they decide to share their medical history.

1st time I talked about male infertility this year...
Someone called me a man hater. Wicked feminist.
Yesterday, I made a post about male infertility.
Minority:
“You’re Dickmatized”
“Mind your gender. Allow real men to talk about this”
Majority:
“Helpful post”
I won’t stop!😊
I talk about women’s health all the time. But when it comes to infertility... we need to understand it’s both genders.
It takes a twisted, twarted and patriarchal mind to think, that a simple medical post about Male infertility, equals hatred. Or is worth trying to slut-shame.

You have heard that a man can shoot blanks. Ejaculate semen, with few or no sperm cells.
But, did you know that it is also possible for a man to ejaculate, little or NO SEMEN?
Technically, he produces semen but it doesn’t enter the vagina. It goes back into his bladder. 👇🏽
It is called Retrograde Ejaculation?
Causes:
Normally, the muscle at the opening of the bladder (bladder neck muscle) tightens to prevent ejaculate from entering the bladder as it passes from the prostate into the tube inside the penis (urethra).
However, in this case...

Ever heard that some women get blind after delivery?
Yes, it is called cortical blindness. However, It is also, reversible.
Cause?
Hypertension in pregnancy
Who is at risk?
- Known hypertensives, before pregnancy
- Pregnancy-induced Hypertensives- PIH
#WorldHypertensionDay 👇🏽
How does this happen?
Rise in BP, from labour and the delivery process can affect blood vessels, causing damage to the brain’s occipital complex.
This causes partial or complete loss of vision. Most times it isn’t permanent, and patient may recover their vision after a while.

The average Nigerian believes that the more bitter a food or drink is, the healthier it is.
Lori iro, you’re just an ‘aspiring cultist’, cos how do y’all drink this Agbo of a thing😩.
While herbs are therapeutic, the problem is the lack of regulation, and false sense of safety it provides.
You live recklessly, then fall back on high-dose herbs as a safety net. Risky.

So a ‘nurse’ told an acquaintance that her diagnosis of ovarian cyst is because she has no sexual experience.
She also advised her to “try and be having sex from time to time”.
Also, told her other scary unverified balderdash.
My first question: “A qualified nurse?”
Silence.
Owing to poverty and ignorance a lot of people seek healthcare in every other place but the hospital.
I understand.
However, “Penny wise... pound foolish”.
It’s best to spend that initial time and money seeking out a specialist. Else, you might spend more in the long run.
A very big welcome to everyone joining today’s conversation. Our guest today needs no introduction especially in the sphere of cancer control and advocacy. Welcome @runciecwc #CheatCervicalCancer
I have questions.
I stressed myself to get NIN from NIMC in 2015, it wasn’t until 2018 I got called for the permanent card.
Guess what. Card expires in 2020.
Sorry, you want me to go through that stress again?
It’s you people’s identity that will expire.
Now yesterday...
I spent half my day at the MTN store waiting time get a sim upgrade, having been busy the whole year.
Just when it got to me... we were told that NCC had stopped the process.
Now, we are hearing we have until 30th December to upgrade our sim with NIN or get blocked.
Block heads.

Why does Semen Leak out after intercourse?
1) The Law of gravity: Whatever goes up...😉
2) It’s fluid he ejaculated, not air or solids 😃
3) All it takes is agile sperm cells to swim up for fertilization. The fluid is just a medium.
So sis, bring your leg down🤗
You’re good.
A lot of women, especially those looking to conceive have been led to believe you need to prop your leg up a wall to let the semen ‘enter’ your womb.
Unless, you’re doing this for the fun of it... it hasn’t actually been shown to contribute to your fertility chances.

It’s ok to teach your daughters to be chaste, teach your sons too.
‘Sexual purity’ is not for a particular gender.
“Obi, No go give woman belle o👂🏼”, is not sex education.
Who will Obi sleep with? If she says no?
Sex Ed, is balanced, lays out options and gives room for choice.
I acknowledge that many persons have different moral and religious codes.
If yours is sexual purity... please teach across gender. Boys growing up to think, the only sin/crime is “Do not impregnate”, is lopsided.
It doesn’t teach them consent, justice, respect & responsibility.

BENEFITS OF EARLY ANTENATAL CARE.
No matter how many babies you have had, you’re always a New mum with each pregnancy.
See-Finish doesn’t apply to pregnancy and ANC.
No two pregnancies are the same!
Late ANC Booking visit could be the death of Mom and Baby😰.
How?
Thread!👇🏽RT
A lot of persons don’t see the need to book early ANC or even book at all.
To some, it’s a waste of time or money or for old timers😉... “Been here, know the drill” (See finish).
See guys, the thing is...
No two pregnancies are the same from the same woman or different.

Dear mums,
I know you want to SNAP BACK immediately after birth...
Biceps ain’t built in a week right?
The Uterus is a muscle too.
It will need time to contract and return to it’s former size.
Don’t let what others post pressure you.
Not all that Snap📸, really ‘snapped back’.
Don’t be roped into taking slimming teas and herbs in order to look like what you see on social media.
I’d advice you focus on eating right and feeding your baby adequately.
Some persons are graced with the genes to snap back faster. Some have to work for it.
However...

ABOUT CONVULSION:
When you put a spoon or any object in a child’s mouth, it can cause the tongue to fall back and block the airway- Suffocation.
It can dislodge a tooth, child inhales it - choking.
Oil in their mouth? can enter the lungs- Aspiration.
All UNNECESSARY and DEADLY
The truth is, convulsion alone cannot kill the child.
It’s mostly complications from it that can, most of these complications arise from well intended harmful first aid practices that our parents of old have been practicing.
BUT IT HAS BEEN WORKING?
No. They have just been lucky

Did you know?
If a mother is Rh negative and the father is Rh positive, the baby has at least a 50% chance of being Rh positive.
And this can lead to miscarriage or Still birth!
It is preventable with a special immunization and many people don’t know!
THREAD! #HappyFathersDay
Rhesus (Rh) is the + or - sign attached to your blood group (e.g: I am O+)
A baby's Rh status is determined from the mother and father, however, babies have a 50% chance of inheriting the Rhesus factor of their biological fathers.
This is why we advice women with Rhesus -ve

Team HYMEN, I have gist for you.
1) Not every woman is born with a hymen 2) Not every woman will bleed during her first sexual intercourse 3) Some women have imperforate hymen. Completely sealed, even menses can’t pass. 4) A woman’s rape plea isn’t less cos she’s not a ‘virgin’.
This table is for those looking for ‘Hymen to Marry’...
Virginity until marriage is Great! I endorse it! It is a choice.
But don't get it twisted, Just as Virginity is not directly proportional to Morality, so it is not, to the presence of Hymen.
How?

About the Clarence Peter’s case,
Really sad.
Permit me to point out something as a doctor.
Do not put any substance or liquid (Milk or not)in the mouth of an unconscious, gasping or convulsing person.
They can aspirate that fluid into their lungs and that alone can kill faster.
If they already have fluid in their mouth, you can roll them on their side to let the fluid flow out the corners of their mouth.
If there was none, then please, put none in their mouth.
I know you want to help, but sometimes the best help is doing nothing but rushing to an ER.

A year today. I was battling for my life in the theatre.
What I thought was ovulation pain was a ruptured appendix!
It was 2 weeks to my Trad introduction.
The person who helped me make the diagnosis wasn’t a Dr, she is a non medic friend of mine who follows my health posts.👇🏽
You see, it’s funny how sometimes we are not saved by our knowledge, but by the knowledge we pass on to others. Sharing is seed sowing, someday in dry season you might need the fruit from that tree.
I was rushed to the hospital and she was right! I was in shock. I was scared.
