Took the day to collect my thoughts. So I'm coming at this less crotchety than I was yesterday.
"Marketing" is the single most significant factor that determines success or failure in TTRPGs, and it lacks even the decency to be a single factor.
It's three. In an overcoat.
It's not just determining your target audience and meeting them where they are, the whole "bringing a product to market" that the term originally stood for.
It's also Advertising and Promotion. Those sound like synonyms, but they aren't. Let's drill.

We're doing it out in the open, because this is the kind of knowledge that dies in darkness and is so simple that people who've learned it completely forget to tell anyone else about it. Strap in. Some #ItchFunding functionality coming at you.
You've got a game on Itch and you want to sell a physical copy as an add-on. You just need to build a "reward tier" for that. If you know how to do free community copies, you know how to do this already. If you don't...well, we're about to learn TWO things.

Yeah, okay. See, you have to understand that every dragon tastes unlike any other dragon. So let's walk through the Fifth Edition monster manual and get some tasting notes on every dragon for the nerdy epicurians and epicurious out there, shall we?
Black: Robust but fine-grained, black dragon meat calls to mind duck; subtly smoky, lush with natural oils and fork-tender when prepared with care. Underdone, it stings the lips and tongue. You'll want to roast it, but don't. Reverse-sear and handle carefully.
