Alex Rondos, former E.U. Special Rep to the Horn of Africa (until July 2021) suggested for a Dayton style (Bosnia) approach for peace in #Ethiopia. shows how detached the EU & its reps are from reality to suggest contextually irrelevant & inherently troubled approach. 1/4 Dayton is a town in Ohio, #US. And Rondos suggesting for #US led initiative shows whole idea is saving #TPLF. Rondos went for the usual bothsidism, try to appear evenhanded. #TPLF is the chief culprit for instability, and should be pressed to lay arms. 2/4

During the 1998-2000 war between #Eritrea & #Ethiopia, the US not only sided with the #TPLF but also provided support & diplomatic leverage. When #TPLF jets bombed #Eritrea Capital, Asmera, on June 5, 1998; Eritrea responded immediately & proportionately. Yet, the then US Ass. Secretary of State for Africa went out of diplomatic protocols & lobbied the OAU to adopt a resolution against #Eritrea.
