I heartily congratulate foremost rights activist and Exec. Director, Foundation for Good Governance and Social Change, Comrade Austin Osakue on his election as President of the African Forum for Advocacy and Citizens Engagement (AFACE). 1/4 At the keenly contested election held in Kigali, Rwanda, Osakue polled 156 votes to defeat four other contestants from Kenya, Ghana, Morocco and Malawi, emerging the first Nigerian to be elected as president of the 32-member body. 2/4

While we do not want to join issues with the @FinMinNigeria, we believe it is our duty to offer useful advice for the benefit of our country. 2.

The Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, @ZShamsuna should rally Nigerians to stem the obvious fiscal slide facing our country.

As we mark World Art Day, the significance and justification for the Edo Museum of West African Art (EMOWAA) is brought to the fore. My administration is committed to promoting arts, culture and tourism. 2.
Aside the fact that we would be preserving our artifacts at the museum, it will serve as a contact point to remind our people of the magnificence and sophistication of our forebears, as well as provide a rich experience of the cultural arts traditions of Benin people.

Our attention has been drawn to misleading and false media reports claiming that @GovernorObaseki has agreed to provide grazing land for herders in the state. 2.

Our position on the matter of grazing land is clear and has not shifted, which is that there is no free land for grazing in Edo. Grazing is an economic activity just like poultry and piggery or any other agric enterprise. Govt will not cede any land in the state for grazing.

While receiving members of the Main Organizing Committee from the Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports Development (FMYSD), I disclosed that Edo state is ready to host the National Sports Festival (NSF), but we don't have the funds at this point in time to host the games. 2.
COVID-19 pandemic has taken a toll on the finances of various states and countries across the globe and Edo State is not left out.

Edo govt begins screening, revalidation exercise for pensioners in 18 LGAs

@EdoStateGovt has announced the commencement of the revalidation exercise for pensioners in the 18 Local Governments Areas (LGAs) of the state. 2.

This is in furtherance of the @GovernorObaseki -led administration’s commitment to the welfare of workers and pensioners in the state.

Edo State Government establishes a Judicial Panel of Inquiry into Circumstances surrounding the #EndSARS protests in Edo State. 2.

In response to the yearnings of Nigerian youths, as articulated in the demands of the #EndSARS protesters, His Excellency, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, Governor of Edo State, has instituted a Panel of Inquiry, with the following members;

Edo govt declares 24-hour curfew

The Edo State Government hereby imposes a 24-hour curfew across the state till further notice.

The curfew is to take effect from 4pm, today, October 19, 2020. 2.

This decision has become necessary because of the very disturbing incidents of vandalism and attacks on private individuals and institutions by hoodlums in the guise of #EndSARS protesters.

During the flag-off ceremony of my governorship election campaign, I thanked the National Working Committee of the @OfficialPDPNig , on behalf of the people of #EdoState, for providing an umbrella to shield us when we were thrown out into the rain. 2.
Four years ago, I made a promise to transform #EdoState; this is happening already. We have put our people first, even though this put us in trouble. God brought us thus far because the voice of our people is the voice of God.

Also, I want to reiterate that the ban on street trading, which was announced by the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu, is in the best interest of our people. 27/40.
This move is aimed at ensuring that all trading activities in this period is concentrated in the pry and secondary school premises, where we are strictly enforcing the social distancing policy as well as the hygiene and safety precautions, to slow the spread of #COVID19.

My dear good people of #EdoState, I am pleased to speak to you once again, and to intimate you on actions and steps which have been taken to tackle the spread of #COVID19 pandemic in the state. 2/40.
After I established the State #COVID19 Response Team, we commissioned an epidemiological study in conjunction with #UBTH to predict and guide the course of action required to control the spread of the #COVID19 in Edo.

My good people of #EdoState, I am glad to inform you that I have now completed my 14 days self-isolation period as a result of my exposure to confirmed cases of coronavirus (#COVIDー19).
