I’m glad the speculations have ended and there is a confirmation from both sides today that my association with @JKPC_ has come to an end.

This is something that has evolved over the last couple of months due to my differences on certain stands and issues.

In @sajadlone I have always sought and found an elder brother and a mentor and I will continue to cherish my personal bond and association with him.

I respect him and hold him in high esteem and that will remain unchanged.

Art 370 was amended and eroded thought Presidential Orders in 1950, 1952, 1954 and in addition to this FORTY-SEVEN Presidential orders were issued between 11 February 1956 and 19 February 1994 to render Art 370 ornamental.

Apparently nobody is culpable and responsible.

1/n
In May, 1956 the titles of Prime Minister and Sadr-i-Riyasat were officially changed to Chief Minister and Governor, respectively.

In 1975, Prime minister Indira Gandhi and Sheikh Abdullah signed “Kashmir Accord”, reemphasizing J&K was an integral part of India.

Started very young in politics - for someone whose father wasn’t in politics. Was 25. Been a daunting struggle and climbed a steep learning curve. Some wins, some losses.

Sticking around in bad weather - committing yourself to the people — takes a lot of conviction.

1/n
While @shahfaesal’s decision is his personal right - one he is entitled to take - and while we should respect it without conjectures & judgments —-

this is a somber reminder that there is more to politics than moralism, idealism and stentorian rhetoric.

It’s a tough life.

Along with 42 elected Hon’ble Corporators of the SMC, have moved a joint petition in the Hon’ble High Court of J&K - seeking intervention to stop the undemocraric, unlawful continuation of the incumbent Deputy Mayor in office despite a ‘No Confidence Motion’ against him.

1/n
This is also an occasion to reiterate our commitment to a sustainable stability in the SMC and seeking of Mayoral elections without any further delay.

Following the filing of our joint petition today, calls are being made to some Corporators - harassing and coercing them.

It’s been 11 days since 38 elected Corporators of the SMC filed a motion of ‘No Confidence’ against the incumbent Deputy Mayor.

As per law, he has to prove his majority on the floor within 48 hours. It’s been 11 days and he has been allowed to used Mayoral powers! 1/n While the #COVID situation might not allow an immediate floor test, a sense of propriety and morality would have demanded that the Deputy Mayor stays away from office till his floor test is conducted.

However, from a person of his ilk - that’s expecting too much.

A Joint Commissioner of SMC has ordained that we are asking questions about SMC’s sudden slumber in #COVID efforts only to stay “relevant”!

Imagine an elected body where representatives can’t ask questions of the SMC administration without officers attributing motives?

1/n
The particular officer is more of a political functionary and less of a government officer in SMC now - and that has been the case for a while now.

I urge the SMC Commissioner to continue to encourage an atmosphere where elected Corporators are free to ask questions.

We need to GO BACK to a comprehensive, multi-pronged approach to deal with the rising #COVID19 cases in Srinagar. No other way to get a grip on the situation.

SMC, Health Department, District Administration need to work at VERY close quarters and do so consistently!

1/n
Designation of containment zones is one measure - not a strategy in itself. Allied measures need to be taken.

Hospitals, large public offices, bank branches and markets are the most vulnerable hotspots and need our focused attention - on a daily basis.

In a TV interview today, the former Dy. Mayor, ACB “captive” and NC supported candidate for Mayoral election has claimed @JmuKmrPolice FSL has not authenticated sting video footage where he is heard boasting links to ISI, ability to conduct blasts and carry out assasinations

1/n
I am filing a formal police complaint with @JmuKmrPolice today seeking FSL validation of the sting video and audio to be matched with his speech and simultaneous registration of an FIR under relevant statutes of law. I will be submitting the footage for due verification.

At his invitation, I met the JKPCC President Mr. @GAMIR_INC Sahab at Srinagar today. The @JKPC_ has offered a broad-based alliance with @INCIndia for stability in the SMC - based on the common objectives of secularism, good governance and development.

1/n
The PCC Chief Mr. @GAMIR_INC will understandably convey @INCIndia’s decision today — after apparently comparing our numbers with the BJP engineered and supported group. Bewildering comparison but a comparison nonetheless - apparently. Nothing is impossible in politics 😊

After some recent health issues and consequent investigations in Delhi, I’ve been diagnosed with a chronic Myeloproliferative Neoplasm (bone-marrow disorder) called Polycythemia Vera (PV). The treatment and management of the disorder was initiated immediately. 1/n The prognosis, the doctors tell me, is “very good”. I’ve been told that - with proper management, healthy lifestyle choices and regulars treatment and monitoring - I should be able to live a healthy, normal and productive life for many many years. 2/n

In about a month from now, the present SMC SWM landfill cell at Acchan will run out of space. We moved a proposal for the new cell five months ago! All we have seen till now is file notations! Does the administration want the city to rot and stink? 1/n For the month of Ramzan, we sough the distribution of 25 streetlights for every ward! As Ramzan is almost over, the only thing that has visibly changed is the number if file notations on that file. In whose interest is it to deprive the city of these basic amenities? 2/n

In today’s Kashmir, bureaucratic inefficiencies and an unprecedented red-tape threaten the very survival of democracy. A new form of despotism is where bureaucrats think they know what’s best for the people they knew nothing about till as early as last year. 1/n Most of our funds lapse because of red-tape. We lose more to bureaucratic resistance and reluctance than to turmoil in terms of missed opportunities to deliver. While there is accountability for the political class, there is nothing but impunity for the bureaucratic class. 2/n
