🚨BREAKING: #NHS starved of investment as tax breaks put before public services in #Budget24.

This squeeze will only deepen the crisis in an NHS that is already battling long waiting lists, delays in urgent care & critical staffing shortages.

🧵Here’s what you need to know: Image 2/ Hunt announced a measly £2.5bn “extra” to the NHS for next year. This is just enough to stop spending falling compared to this year: it's NOT a spending increase.

With rampant inflation & increased patient demand, this lack of investment will inevitably mean real-terms cuts.

NEW: The much-delayed #NHSWorkforcePlan has finally been released.

After 13 years of Conservative government decisions leading us to the #NHS crisis, how can we trust them to fix the mess they created?

Here’s what the plan means for our NHS 🧵⬇️... The plan aims to increase training places to 15k a year by 2031, and to recruit 60k more doctors and 170k more nurses by 2037.

But what about the 110,000 vacancies now?

It will take years before this expansion will even begin to have an impact. #NHSWorkforcePlan

“The UK’s pandemic response was driven by nationalism.”

The Government failed to ensure vaccines, tests and treatments being developed with £1.5bn in public funding would be shared fairly with other countries worldwide… By spending this money without putting conditions on what would happen to these products after they were developed, the govt socialised the risk of the investment whilst allowing Big Pharma to then take the reins to set high prices and monopolise these products.

In today’s #AutumnStatement @Jeremy_Hunt & @RishiSunak have unleashed a new wave of austerity on the British people and our public services. They claim to be “putting the #NHS first” with a £3.3bn funding increase. But in reality, this is a real terms cut -here’s why…
THREAD:1/6 Image The context for this budget is that our health service is already at breaking point. After 12 years of Conservative governments, we’ve got millions on waiting lists, overwhelmed ambulance services, and underpaid and overworked staff leaving in their thousands…

🚨 Why the government's #NHS funding pledge falls far short of what’s needed 🚨

A thread...👇🏼 After more than a decade of chronic underinvestment, our NHS has been left in a deeply precarious position. It’s good that the government has recognised this, but the proposed funding boost will not be enough to fix the major problems facing our health service.

"People are dying."

Elizabeth has witnessed the difference between the UK and US health systems. She knows the human cost of high prices. Don’t allow the US to sabotage access to meds on the #NHS.

EPIC THREAD!!!... There has been a lot of debate on the impact of a #tradedeal with #Trump on #NHS medicine prices. Here’s a thread detailing why people are right to be worried… 1/
