I think a lot of ER docs have been on a similar emotional roller coaster this week, so I figured I'd put my own feelings in writing. The purpose is likely partly informational, partly self-therapeutic.

First: Dr. Oz's public health malpractice statement about what "doctors are really worried about" is what spurred this.
My baseline levels of anxiety have been manageable this week, but at a higher level than usual.
Today, roughly half of my plans through May were abruptly cancelled. I was looking forward to most of it.
The cancellations were the right call. Here's why:
First: @EmergencyDocs sent out an e-mail that all spring conferences were cancelled, including the Leadership and Advocacy Conference (one of my favorites!). I was slated to speak in a health reform debate with @ActuallyDrJ! It was going to be awesome...
