Ok asked my teenager what she thought about poor behaviour in schools. Here's her response, she helped type this:
1. First off this has been going on for ages ! BBC is late to this. Just check tiktok. 2. She think this is first generation raised totally with technology or really prevelant tech in their lives. She says "This speaks for itself" she doesn't think this is good. 3. Parenting has shifted in it's ideals over the past few years and a lot of parents think their child can do no wrong ( she says there is a difference between standing up for your child and excusing inappropriate behaviour ) 4. She says "I don't think you all realise how much covid has effected us all, esp young kids" 5. Teachers aren't parents. People need to understand that.
They are her thoughts. In a very short way from my teenager
She also says these seem obvious to her and she doesn't understand why everyone else has a hard time seeing this....

One of the thing I do for it own #SEND daughter is #OverwhelmDays. If she's really struggling I'll just ring her in take day off. I don't sugarcoat it. I just say she's overwhelmed. She takes day or so recover & she always knows she can do this.
Her attendance is well over the 95% every year. I never push her beyond... I want her to know to stop, reset and go again. She's predicted As. She is more fussy about taking a day off than I am. But this ⬆️ this is the most careful balance you'll ever do as #SEND parent. Failure to honour it leads to persistent absense. You can't just bluff your ways through overwhelm. It just compounds it.
Other things we do is limit. We stop extras for weeks, we stop enrichments, we question do you need to do this? We boost special interests, we up recovery. We work out area that can be forgiving of less, we manage spoons. This is pretty normal for most #SEND as we need more time... I make zero apologies for this. None.

Trigger warning cause this is uncomfortable. #Exclusions
Boy violently assaults girl at school, is just moved class nothing happens.
For a while I stay in school ( I was in middle of my own abuse court case) but message was school isn't safe.
Due to not taking it seriously getting the victim help or excluding & supporting the perpetrator, means they fail to pick up the fact the boy had been seriously abused by a teacher, or girl had developed ptsd.

Thread:#LGBTHM21 For Clarification: I protested at school in 1996-1998 at section 28.Watched the #LGBTQ community in my school bullied within a inch of their lives. Was told at meeting wasn't schools role to manage & I'd grow out if it.
It's been 25 years bbc.co.uk/bbcthree/artic…
I didn't ever grow out of it. It was repealed 5 years later When I was 21!!
So thank you to the #LGBTQ community groups across the NW that got many of us through that era, including @GLYSSwarrington for me. Today I'm a teacher, and appalled we ever had it! #LGBTHM21

Sensitive thread for those easily upset. But important to me on accepting abuse of any kind in schools without real consequences.
Terrfying to write so go easy on me... but here is my experience..
I disclosed my #CSA in school. Back then there was zero support & it was all over school by lunchtime.
I was back in class after talking to social services & police. My parents was devastated and coped badly back then.
