Unfortunately, we could not agree on some crucial points. During the bush war of 1981-86, we remained on good terms with DP. In 1986, after our victory, we invited the DP, CP and even UPC, to join a Government of National Unity. Paulo Muwanga nominated Stanislaus Okurut to join the Cabinet. Many DP leaders joined the Unity Government: Paulo Ssemogerere, Ponsiano Mulema, Ssebaana Kizito etc., etc. I salute their contribution.

Starting with 1960, I became a very active DP Youth winger. Apart from looking after our cattle in areas of Ruhuunga and Keigoshoora (Kashaari County), I spent part of the 1960 end-of-year holidays with Mzee Byanyima at Ruti. In 1961, I was an active DP sympathizer at Ntare until 1965 when, with some UPC Youth such as Eriya Kategaya etc we started forming the new line of what, eventually, became the NRM with its principles of Patriotism, Pan-Africanism, Social-economic transformation & Democracy.

Countrymen & countrywomen, regarding the Ebola outbreak, our country has the capacity to control this epidemic. The government is doing everything possible to ensure your safety. As I indicated in my address, a confirmed case was admitted at Kiruddu Hospital from Mubende & died. 24 contacts are under quarantine. There have been a lot of rumours and anxiety about confirmed cases of Ebola in Kampala City, specifically Kiruddu Hospital. I would like to inform the general public that there is no confirmed case of Ebola in Kampala City.

It is the 15th September (Nyankaaga) and its the 78th birthday of the old man with a hat. It has been God that has protected me all this time and blessed the NRM to be able to realize a lot of achievements. God has also blessed my family in all these years. I thank Maama Janet for looking after the children when we were fighting. I salute the NRM fraternity for their support, as well as saluting all Ugandans for whatever good work they are doing.

Countrymen and Countrywomen, especially the NRM- NRA- UPDF fraternity.

With deep sorrow, I announce the death of General Elly Tumwiine which occurred at 5:46am this morning in Nairobi, from lung cancer. According to his widow, with whom I have just talked to on the telephone, Gen. Tumwiine was now 68 years old. I had taught him at Burunga Primary School in 1967, after our A-levels, as a student teacher, before going to university, later that year.

I received H.E Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia at State House Entebbe. I congratulated him on his election victory and assured his Excellency and the people of Somalia of our continued friendship and support. I thank H.E President Mohamud and his entire government for demystifying the lies of the Al-Shabaab terrorist group and for tirelessly working to isolate and decisively defeat them, in order to ensure total peace for Somalia.

It gives me immense pleasure to share ideas on such topics with a new generation of leaders. Africa was in the past let down by traditional chiefs who were more interested in complicated titles (Lion, Rubambansi, etc), yet they could not protect us from imperialism. ImageImage Today, Africa faces challenges like; the lack of a centre of gravity; where does Africa run to when Africa is under attack both politically and economically? It is therefore the role of us all today, to advocate for a united East Africa and Africa. ImageImageImage

Greetings to Ugandans and, especially, the Bazukulu. Congratulations on Cheptegei and Kiplimo. Condemnation for the killers of Kakooza, Councillor from Kamwokya, the student, Betungura, the CAO from Bukwo, Charles Ogwang and others. Their killers will pay like the idiotic ADFs have been paying. They thought it was a joke. It is a bad joke and gamble to kill Ugandans.

Last night, I hosted H.E President Paul Kagame, eminent leaders of the Government of Uganda, distinguished guests in their respective capacities, family, friends and relatives to a private dinner in honour of Lt Gen @mkainerugaba. I congratulate Lt Gen @mkainerugaba upon making 48 years on earth. You, people, call him Muhoozi but I call him Muwooji because while in exile in Dar-es-Salaam, our neighbour was Gen Tito Okello (RIP), he couldn't pronounce the name Muhoozi.

This afternoon, I received sad news, announcing the death of H.E. Hon. Emilio Mwai Kibaki, the third President of the Republic of Kenya. This is a sorrowful moment for the people of Kenya, the East African Community and the African Continent. I extend, on behalf of the people of Uganda, heartfelt sympathies to the family of H.E Kibaki, H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta, President of the Republic of Kenya and all Kenyans, upon the loss of a Great Statesman. Mzee Mwai Kibaki was a transformational leader and a true Pan-Africanist.

To the Ugandans, especially the Bazzukulu.

Today at 10:00hours, some pigs (in reality manipulated and confused Bazzukulu), apparently, blew themselves up, one near the IGG office and the other near CPS. At about 10:30hours, the CMI/Police squads injured and captured the third terrorist in the area of Katooke, Bwaise with his bomb. He, later, died but gave us very good information before dying. His name is Musa Mudasiri.

Delivering the keynote speech (virtually) during the Africa Integration Day opening session at State House Entebbe this afternoon. How will the 1.4b Africans prosper? It must be through production. We should not just push for African Integration but must guarantee our prosperity through integrating the markets that will consume what we are producing as Africa.

Kenyan Deputy President @WilliamsRuto joined me for the groundbreaking ceremony of Dei BioPharma Ltd, a multibillion pharmaceutical drugs and mRNA vaccine manufacturing facility in Matugga, Wakiso. Image The facility, a brainchild of Mathias Magoola and funded by Equity Bank Ltd will focus on applying biotechnology to solve the health challenges of humanity through the creation of novel drugs, vaccines, and diagnostics.

It has taken long before the first oil, due to divergent perceptions between us and the oil companies. Initially, I did not favor the idea of the pipeline. My question was: “Why export the oil. Don’t the East Africans need it?” In this, I preferred an Oil Refinery only. The oil companies, however, were biased in favor of exporting crude oil only. The compromise, then, was: “Ok, let us have both the Refinery and the Pipeline.” Most of this, was when the Tanzanian route was not in the picture. We were still debating about Mombasa and Lamu.

THREAD: A follower identified as @MwoyoG declares how he is not against Banyankore but only against Banyarwanda like myself. He is also wondering whether Banyarwanda are an “Official” tribe of Uganda. First of all, I am not a Munyarwanda. I am a Musiita and my mother is Mweene Rukaari and you can go to the beginning of creation, you will not find any Bunyarwandism in me. However, it would not have mattered if I was a Munyarwanda.

I met our NRM Members of Parliament who have previously opposed certain party positions, hence being named "rebel MPs". They called on me at State House Entebbe to seek the party's forgiveness. Subsequently, I made their case before the party's Central Executive Committee yesterday which resolved that for the party's cohesion and discipline, we interact further and guide these MPs.

Countrymen, Countrywomen and the Bazzukulu. Yesterday, the 10th of April, 439 people were tested for Covid-19 and all were negative. This means they do not have the virus. None of them was from quarantine. One group comprised people who had interacted with the infected returnees (i.e. some of the 53 who have been confirmed as positive).
In Ministry of Health language, these are called "Contacts", meaning they interacted with the infected people.

Greetings. Today, I observed the launching of a prototype of an African firefighting vehicle at Nakasongola. This vehicle is a convergence of 2 ideas that have been part of my life. The 1st idea is the traditional way of putting out bushfire ( okuteera omuriro ogw'ekishugyi). In suppressing bushfire, using appropriate tree branches, you tackle the bushfire from the rear (okugureetwa aha mugongo). The bushfire is always driven by the wind. If the wind is blowing from the East to the West, the fire will burn from the East to the West.

I will address the nation shortly to clarify some of the guidelines that I issued yesterday on #Covid-19. Last night after the address, my social media team informed me that there are a number of areas the public wanted to be clarified. I have captured some and will be elaborating on them. #M7Address.

I made directives in my previous communication and since then, we have been monitoring the situation. We have realized there are still windows through which #Covid_19 can still spread. #M7Address. We, therefore, think there is less risk in maximum restriction for a limited time than gambling with the assumption of the extent of the #Covid-19 spread. #M7Address.

Recently, I was in Kisozi and Rwakitura, checking on my cattle. I thought it wise to share a few facts about some of the cows. Secretary General of the NRM making friendship with Rureemba. It is a massive bull. Prof. Katunguuka needs to weigh it with his magic belt. He had previously so weighed one of my bulls and it clocked 800kgs. As you can see, Rureemba is taller than our powerful Secretary General.
