TW: In high school one of my best friends told our little group of friends that she'd been sexually abused by her dad. She gave a detailed, precise account of what she'd endured. She decided to write her father a letter about it and she made a time to call him to discuss it. 1/ She also decided to tell her mum, who was by this stage long separated from her dad. Her mum, who had a completely visceral reaction to the allegations, refused to believe her. She immediately called my friend a liar and told her to get out. So my friend came to stay with me. 2/

I want to share a story about my close friend, who is dying of cancer, and the impact of #Coronavirus. With her permission, I want you to know about the effects of this virus in the here and now, and implore you all, on her behalf, to take #SocialDistancing seriously. 1/ My beautiful friend is a mother of three young kids. She is the reason that @emsyanna and I know each other. She is the smartest, funniest, kindest person you will ever meet. We love her with all our heart. Five years ago, she was diagnosed with cancer. 2/
