Conservative ministers justified ticket office closures to the British public with three key claims.

But it turns out, they were simply not true.

It’s time for the Conservatives to come clean on the damage their plans will do.

🧵👇

❌But operators have now admitted swathes of stations across the country will have no staff for all or part of the week.

1/7 The number of cases we have coming into the office relating to debt and the cost-of-living is starting to increase significantly as the cold months kick in. 🧵 2/7 A woman contacted me in desperate need.

She’s claiming Universal Credit, but unfortunately missed a check in appointment because she was struggling with her mental health, she was in a very dark place and explained she simply couldn’t leave the house.

1/6 If @BorisJohnson thinks Downing Street is a tip, he should see the conditions that people are living in thanks to more than a decade of Tory austerity in #Sheffield. 2/6 Each and every day, I’m contacted by residents in social housing in conditions like this ⬇

It is scandalous that dozens of firms are charging £100s on the gov.uk website for a single PCR test.

Ministers are requiring passengers to take tests, but are sitting on their hands while families are being exploited. Many are luring travellers in with bargain prices for tests that have little or no availability, or would leave families travelling hundreds of miles.

They then charge fifty times that for the tests they do have.

A rare Friday in Westminster to support the brilliant @KevinBrennanMP Bill to #FixStreaming

Here's why it's important 👇 Image Musicians’ livelihoods have been shattered over the last year, with the inability to perform live at gigs, concerts, festivals, shows and in the recording studio.

This has massively increased the importance of streaming as a way of musicians earning a living.

1/12 Much has been reported in the media & commented on by the govt about GPs not offering appointments. I've had constituents contact me to say they've struggled.

So I've been visiting GPs and staff to see what's going on. 2/12 NHS staff worked under huge pressure over the last 18 months, helping us all cope during the pandemic. In fact, it wasn't too long ago that we were all applauding them.

Some GPs in #Sheffield never once closed their doors but all of them now have huge backlogs to deal with.

The Protocol exists to manage the consequences of the Brexit the Prime Minister chose.

The Government must not provoke more acrimony and instability in Northern Ireland.

Instead we need to see solutions, honesty, and leadership. The concerns of unionists are real and deeply felt, but the issues that have caused those concern can be addressed.

In coming days, it is essential the the EU and UK work together to find pragmatic solutions, and help ease tension.

Can we be a bit more circumspect before accepting that the Tories are once again the Party of law and order? They have a LOT to fix.

A thread: Firstly, Johnson's pledge to recruit 20,000 officers doesn't even cover those we've lost since 2010.

21,000 experienced officers have been cut in addition to the many thousands we've lost through record retirement levels thanks to the crippling morale levels in the service.

Ladies and Gentlemen, a very brief introduction to our new Home Secretary, Priti Patel:

In 2011 on @bbcquestiontime she advocated reintroducing the death penalty, arguing it was about the 'criminal justice system doing what it says on the tin'
In the debate around a No Deal Brexit she suggested the possibility of food shortages in Ireland should be used as leverage over the backstop.

Mark Field has finally been suspended from his government position but not from the Conservative Party. If his behaviour makes him unfit to be a Minister, how is he fit to be a Tory MP? He should be immediately suspended from his Party & the Whip pending disciplinary process. 1/5 The Tory MPs defending him should be utterly ashamed: Peter Bottomley, Johnny Mercer, Crispin Blunt, Nadine Dorries & Vicky Ford. Condoning his actions legitimises & normalises violence against women. Mercer said we should "calm down" & Blunt said Field should be "commended". 2/5
