Some amazing anecdote on Tax disputes in India..

This is about none other than NESTLE..

It was year of 1999..

2 decades ago...when they launched their signature product "KITKAT"

(1/n) Commissioner of Excise challenged Kitkat...that it was not a WAFER but a CHOCOLATE..

Why?

Wafer was taxed @ 10%

While Chocolate was taxed @ 20%

So, while filing the tax, Nestle claimed that KitKat is 'Wafer coated with chocolate'.

So, we will pay 10% tax on it
