Can heart transplant recipients experience vasovagal syncope??

This came up during my time in the CCU, here's a short 🧵 investigating this question. Special thanks to @AHajduczok of @TJHeartFellows.

Let's first start with how vasovagal syncope normally occurs... It starts with a trigger (stress, pain) coupled with central hypovolemia (dehydration or upright posture) → ⬆️ contractility of an underfilled LV

This ultimately results in ↑vagal efferent activity to sinus node (↓HR) and ↓sympathetic efferent activity to arterioles (↓SVR)
